I'm looking for recommendations for dinning in the evening, with at least one character dinning experience.

When is the earliest a reservation can be made.

You can make dining reservations up to 60 days beforehand.

Our personal favourites are Annette's Diner - which is an American themed diner that do lots of different burgers, hot dogs and chips etc. We love the massive "King Elvis" bannana split - it is making my mouth water just thinking about it!

For character interaction we love Cafe Mickey. We also eat for the first time last year at the Inventions Restaurant buffet in the Disneyland Hotel. We eat there at lunch time when there were no characters; but we are planning on doing the Evening meal where there are characters and we love the food so much we're doing the Sunday Brunch where there is a different theme every week for the characters. Inventions is pricey but the food is so amazing - we were reluctant to try it due to the high price - but now think it was worth every penny!

Hi, before i make any recommendations what ages are those travelling....just to give me an idea of what setting would suit you best? Also do you have any particular food preferences :goodvibes ?

Although i guess everyone knows I'm going to say Walts anyway :rotfl2:

Walts on Main Street is one of my favourites, especially if you ask for a window table in time for the parade as it will pass by while you enjoy your meal.

Others I would suggest are the California Grill and Inventions at the DLH and the Blue Lagoon in the POTC ride. Inventions is a good buffet restaurant and I've always had good character interaction there. If your there on a Sunday defiantly book the Sunday Brunch.

The Manhattan Restaurant at HNY is good too.

Thanks

I have a 12 year and 4 year old. Loves all American food.

Just read that I can pay a supplement and upgrade for character breakfast at café mickey "is this true" as this would work out cost effective :thumbsup2

As character meal for me is Inventions Sunday brunch the best. I enjoy both food and character interaction there and the atmosphere is so great. Mickey's cafe can be hit and miss and we had both, so it's like a lottery. But MC never gave me the feeling Inventions did. And we wouldn't do Auberge due to the food and boys don't like princesses.

We also like Annette's. I think it's great and the food is tasty.

I like Plaza gardens over Restaurant des stars due to the food variety, but on the other hand Remy and the band win for the atmosphere. And it's less crowded.

Also I enjoy Colonel Haiti pizza outpost and cowboys cookout.

Always have a hot dog at Casey's corner and Earl of sandwich is never to miss.

Although I like Walts, but my kids don't.

Yup - we normally do this. Don't go to the early sitting though as we found it too early yo be "happy" and didn't get much interaction (we actually had to complain as Mickey walked right by us twice and then didn't sign our books!) 9.30sm though has always been mega fun!

You can pay for a buffet breakfast in the DLH though, characters are outside and rotate frequently - bring not actually inside the breakfast room means you can just go and meet them if you want! ;)

I think I would go for breakfast at the DLH before cafe mickey but that's just me ;) . How about The Rainforest cafe , I think a 12 and 4 year old would both enjoy that and they do wings, burgers, steaks, salads, ribs etc you can view the menu here

I think we only did it each trip as we didst know about the DLH - next on our list now!

We did the second sitting at Café Mickey breakfast and had lots of character interaction June 2013; but as someone on a low fat diet at home both DH and I found the breakfast to be really greasy; so aren't keen to return for breakfast; but have booked a meal there in the evening.

We're going to try breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel and DH wants to do an Annette's breakfast which I believe is open til 1 pm for this meal; so we are going to do it as a brunch.:cool1:

After being there in June i would recommend:

- Blue Lagoon, absolutly delicious food!! Atmosphere lovely also, felt like i was in a tropical country :lovestruc service was good aswell and enjoyed watching the boats go past on the POTC ride :)

- Restaurant des Stars int he Studios was good. We went here for lunch one day. The selection was plentiful and hot and fresh. Not too busy and was nice how Remy came to our table to see us :rotfl:

- Earl of Sandwich - YUM!!!!! My OH was so impressed with these!! Will def be returning here. Was quick and easy but also filling so definatly enough for dinner. Cheap also if got a meal with crisps and drink!!

I wanted to try Walts but was closed when went to eat the. Will def be aiming to try there in Feb but knowing my luck will be closed then also.

Hope this all helps. :yay:

We eat at Plaza Gardens last year and are trying Restaurant Des Stars for our visit in 6 weeks - how do the two restaurant foods differ?? Thanks:thumbsup2

My youngest is 8 and he loved Rainforest Cafe last week, so did we all actually :thumbsup2 You can't book though, so need to take your chance turning up.

We also enjoy Annette's and have never been to DLP without going there. I suggest eating before 6pm if you can to avoid queues as you can't book this either.

We've not done character meals for a few years now, but when Cafe Mickey first opened we did have fun meeting the characters. Definitely book this if you want to go.

Buffet at Parkside Diner in HNY is nice too. Never had to book, always plenty of room.

Blue Lagoon is a unique setting - though can be a bit dark sometimes, again book if you want to go here.

Earl of Sandwich is a must too - although this is counter service, the sandwich is just amazing - by far our favourite lunch stop :)

I can also highly recommend the Rainforest Cafe - the food is great the setting is lovely.

We also like Annettes for our burger fix!

Have you thought about maybe doing the Wild West Dinner Show? for us, a trip to DLP isn't complete without out! :thumbsup2

Just did this last week (again), we love it! Its too dark to take photos as you are not allowed flash, but it was really yummy, i just love the chilli :)
Some people don't rate it well, but i personally love it -;and the show is so much fun. If you've never been before, you should (though we went 9.30 with our AP discount).

hey don't differ much in food. It's pretty much the same, but to me seems Restaurant des stars has more dessert variety. And there's Remy and a band playing also.
