Restaurant Nostalgia Thread

There used to be an Italian counter service in DTD Marketplace where Wolfgang Puck's Express is now called Minnie Mia's. I'm always amazed that no one seems to remember this, but we loved it for a quick bite.

Count me in as another vote for the original Chef Mickey's at DTD. I remember feeling like such a "grown up" eating there. I still have the little red souvenir mug my kiddie cocktail came in.

Sadly, I only got to eat here once. The following summer it had already moved to its current location.

Was Chef Mickey's originally at DTD? I thought I remember reading years ago "Chef Mickey has picked up his pots and pans and moved over to DTD." I read it in an old UOG, and I think I still have it, so I'll have to look around. I remember a character meal at the Contemporary Cafe, but i think that was Goofy, not Mickey.

For some reason, a hot potato stand sticks out in my mind. Anyone remember that?

Remember when Chef Mickey's was in Downtown Disney?

I think that is the old Land Pavilion food court. I loved how that was themed and there was a baked potato station.

Oh, I remember. I had forgotten about it. I only atet here once, but when you said the name I definitely remembered it.

I love Sunshine Seasons now, but I remember when it was the Farmers Market...used to love the "handwiches". When the Garden Grill was called The Good Turn...I thought it was SO cool back then. :)

Breakfast at Artist Point. It was with Pooh and friends. IIRC it was served family style but they did make my partner an omelete when he asked. And the waitress gave us bottled water to take to the park without us asking.

I'll 2nd Spoodles. But not for breakfast. I thought it was nasty.

Am I having another senior moment, or confusing our visits between WDW and DLR? Didn't Adventureland have a Blue Bayou Restaurant before the POC expansion? I have a very vivid memory of having Jambalaya for lunch many years ago. I know DLR had it, but thought MK did too, at one time.

I don't remember a Blue Bayou at WDW. There isn't a New Orleans area, so it wouldn't really fit.

To further cloud the issue;) There was a buffet at the Contemporary prior to what we now know as Chef Mickey's. This would go back to the late 70s-early80s. My foggy recollection was that the characters were a brief diversion during the meal rather than the whole crux of the event. I also recall that the food was much higher quality and that there was no madness to get in to eat there. I don't think it was in the same location as Chef Mickey's is now, but I could be wrong. Anyone else remember?:confused3

It was the Terrace Buffeteria. It was not in the same location as CM. I cannot recall where it was offhand, but I think it might have been where Contempo Cafe is because I could swear you could see the monorail from that restaurant. I have so many childhood memories from that place :) & you are right, I never recall a big line to get in (I think we often made ADR's that morning from guest services at a park) & the food was higher quality.

I regret not getting to eat at the Concourse Steakhouse. Every trip we planned to, then it was gone.

Thanks Poohbear. Good to know that someone else remembers . Somehow I recall that it seemed the restaurant was "raised" above ground level (hence "Terrace"?) Uncleromulus any chance you're around and can shed any light on this eatery?

The Cat Walk bar..... Best place to take 5.....
Ariels....realy good seafood...
Empress Room..
Ok.. I miss ALL the restaurants since the advent of Dining Free for alls. I think the creativity has gone out of them and replaced them for easy quick turn around. Every CS had a special something... And the TS didn't all taste the same.
They are all still good... But here is something missing.

I can't rememeber the Pooh breakfast but I do remember a meal with Pocahontas and friends, was it dinner?

On my first trip in my late teens, we ate at a good pizza place in Pleasure Island called the Hill Street Diner.(At least that's what I think it was called!)

I'm also on the Concourse Steakhouse bandwagon. They had the very best burgers a-n-y-where in all of Disney!

Their onion soup was great too. I loved Bonfamilles. I wish they would bring back a restaurant there and make it Tiana's Place."

Oh my goodness I loved Minnie Mias and I also loved Merryweather's in Downtown Disney so yummy!!
