My family and I will be in Disney the week of Thanksgiving and I was unable to get dining reservations for Thanksgiving Day - but thanks to this thread, I called about the Tusker House and because few people know if it's re-opening they had plenty of Thanksgiving lunch reservations available!!! Woohoo!!!!!! I know it's not character style at lunch, but atleast it's a sit down meal for us. :) I'm very excited to try it!

Walt Disney World continues rehab work on Contemporary Resort, and has also submitted paperwork to construct a new restaurant inside the hotel.

Called "The Wave," the new restaurant will be built into the north end of the Contemporary's main tower. It will become the hotel's third full-service restaurant. Theme will be trendy, and The Wave will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, and will feature a bar. It should open by next spring or summer.

I've been reading here for a few days and love all of the information available!

Just wanted to say that I called to make dining reservations yesterday and asked about the Yak and Yeti Restaurant. At the end of the call, the lady I spoke with said the rumor was that it wouldn't be open this year. She said they are hearing January 2008, so if anyone was hoping to try it out this year like we were, you may have to wait!

An email went out to castmembers yesterday that said Y & Y (new acronym!) will be open for walk-ups only starting November 14th. Y&Y will be walk-ups only thru the end of 2007.

They will start taking reservations in early December for dates in January of 2008 and beyond. :)

Thanks! We'll try for a walk-up while we're there.

So, both the Tusker House and the Yak and Yeti opened this weekend and I visited both. YOu cannot get reservations for the Yak and Yeti till January. You must walk up only. The Yak and Yeti has amazing atmosphere and feels extremely authentic. I really enjoyed my meal there. However, here's a tip for all of you. At the fast food joint connected to the Yak and Yeti, they serve five of the EXACT SAME Food items as in the sit down restaurant for half the price. So, if you want to pay less to get the same food and you don't mind eating outside, go there instead. Even if you want the restaurant experience, save dessert for the fast food place because the Mango Pie is 7 dollars at the restaurant and 3.50 right next door.

The Tusker House opened yesterday. Right now they have holiday prices of 23.99 for lunch and 30.99 for dinner. After the holidays, it goes down to 19.99 for lunch and 26.99 for dinner. Its an all you can eat buffet and all of the food is south african and middle eastern themed. I thought the food quality was good but not amazing. There are a billion different types of cous cous/rice on the menu and only four meat items and a few veggie items. It's a little off balanced. The desserts were very good, especially the bread pudding. Make sure to try that. The tables and chairs were a little too closely spaced for my liking.

Anyway, here's the menu. Hopefully, they'll use this comment to update the site because the menu listed is old. If you need photos, I brought a menu home with me so you can ask if you want.

An assortment of fresh breads and spreads

Cold Tables:

Blatjang Chutneys - Spicy South African Preserves, Sambals/Tabbouleh, Hummus and Baba Ganoush/ Endive, Apple and Walnut Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing/ Caesar Salad/ Mixed Greens/ Tomato and Cucumber Salad/ Sliced Turkey, Ham and Cheeses/ Tunisian Couscous Salad/ Green Bean and Onion Salad/ Curried Rice Salad/ Fresh Fruit

Vegetarian Tables:
Marrakesh Couscous with Roasted Vegetables/ Vegetable Samosas. Spiced Tandoori Tofu/ Jollaf Rice/ Pearl Couscous with Sweet Basil Essence

Kids' Tables:

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwhiches, Corn Dog Nuggets, Mac and Cheese, Corn Medley, Chicken Drumsticks, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes

Hot Tables:

Salmon Fillet/ Root Vegetables and Cabbage/ Seafood Stew/ Orzo Pasta/ Green Bean Medley/ Rotisserie Chicken/ Yukon Gold Potato Wedges/ Mashed Potatoes/ Carved Top Sirloin Roast and Pork Loin/ Cape Malay Curry Chicken/ Basmati Rice with Toasted Almonds

Desserts:

Fruit Cobbler/ Warm Banana-Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce/ Other Assorted Pastries

Hope this helps :)

I ate at Y & Y twice last week. Thursday was the first day that they were linked to WDW reservations. Prior to this you had to call the restaurant for same day reservations.

The place is great! A full bar, friendly service. We had the president of ABC Studios sit at the neighoring table.

Finally a great place at AK!!!

I love Moroccan couscous. It's my favorite dish. I will definitly check out this restaurant as soon as I can save enough money.

DH said he heard something about Rose & Crown and alcohol on the news last week. He didn't catch what it was about and I haven't been able to find anything here. Anyone know what that's about?

I think I heard something about them not selling the yard of beer anymore...I guess there were too many stinkin' drunk Guests.

When is this supposed to be open? We are going in sept. Will we be able to make reservations for it soon?

Thanks - he was afraid they weren't going to sell ANY beer anymore. That would be disasterous!
