We're very seriously thinking about trying Restaurant Marrakesh on our next trip. After all of our visits to WDW, we've never eaten there. I don't read very many negatives, is it as good as I think it is?
It's one of our favorites! The atmosphere is great, the food is excellent, the service is efficient and friendly, and DH loves the belly dancer! I can't wait to eat there in May!
I tried Restaurant Marrakesh on my last visit after reading so many positive posts on these boards. It was excellent - I think it is one of Epcots hidden gems. The restauant has interesting decor and attentive service. The food is not the type you see all over the place (I live in Boston and I can't think of any Moroccan restaurants). Both dinner and lunch have appetizer-style platters where you can sample different items. It is a good way to be introduced to Moroccan cuisine. They also had a signature mint icea tea which was very good (I think I've successfully duplicated it at home too!).
Give it a shot. You can't beat the atmosphere. It really does take to away to a whole different place. Isn't that the reason you're going back to Disney?
Try it if you haven't eaten there before. DH and I ate there a couple of years ago and didn't like it. I didn't think the food was good at all, and it's not that I don't like that type of food.
I'm looking forward to trying it on my upcoming solo trip. I don't like lamb, and am a little concerned about eating meat with sugar(!), but am planning to order the Sultan's Sampler and try out Moroccan cuisine. I was also nervous about trying Greek food for the first time, and love it, so I have similar hopes for Marrakesh.
This restaurant served the worst food I have ever had at Disney World. Everything was extremely bland and tasteless, especially the chicken. Interestingly enough my sister and her daughter were with me and they said it was the best meal that they ever had.
So again it depends on the person not the restaurant.
Dh had the lamb and was in heaven. I had the beef shish-kabob and it was out of this world. I wasn't crazy about the appetizers choices tho. I tried them but it wasn't my taste. We do love this restaurant tho.
Very bland food, but the decor is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the belly dancer is a blast. We would not go back, though, because we both thought the food was awful. We both like spicy, flavorful food and were very disappointed that the food had nary a sprinkle of authenticity.
It is delicious! Usually fairly quiet too. The food is yummy and large portions too. I remember having a lovely and very huge cocktail there The service was fast and friendly as well.
I don't like extremely spicy food, but hubby does. Can you request extra spices, seasonings or sauces to kick it up if needed? Anyone know what the souvenir glass looks like?
We went last July 2004 and there was a belly dancer when we dined. We too loved it. The kids had fun watching the belly dancer and so did all of us. I would recommenbd this location.
