Someone mentionned restaurant.com on the canadian baord and I had to check it out.

When I checked online, you can buy a restaurant.com $100 gift card for $40. then when you check the restaurants, Shula is listed but under Shula and Bluezoo you can purchase $25 for $10. Can I still use a $100 gift card or is $25 the only thing they will accept.

Be sure you are buying what you think that you are buying... Restaurant.com sells restaurant specific gift cards that can only be used at the restaurant that you purchase them for (i.e. If you want to eat a t Shula's, you have to buy the Shula's gift certificate and use it within the conditions given). The prices and conditions vary from restaurant to restaurant.

This is not the same as buying a restaurant.com gift card that you can give to someone or keep for yourself to use for purchases on the restaurant.com website.

I see. Now I get it. So to eat at a restaurant, you really have to buy a certificate to that restaurant specifically. No such thing has a certificate that can be used at multiple restaurants.

Correct.
Also check the online coupon sites. Often they have 70% or 80% off Restaurant.com purchases, so instead of $25 at Shula's for $10, it would be $25 for only $3 or $2. In those cases it definitely becomes worth it. Even if you end up not using it, it's not a big loss.

Also there are minimum purchases to use their restaurant certificates. $25 GC on a $35 or more purchase, $50 GC on a $100 or more purchase...etc.

Question - they have a House of Blues $25GC for $10 with "Minimum purchase of $35. 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Cannot be use for Gospel Brunch, on Holidays or Special Events."

Can this be used for drinks & munchies at the bar?

Also, why wouldn't you purchase a restaurant.com Gift Card instead of a certificate for a specific restaurant?

If I purchase a $25 certificate for House of Blues it would cost me $10 & I would need to spend $35 so if I ate/drank $35 worth it would end up costing me $20 plus 18% tip. If I purchased a $25 GC it would cost $15, no manditory 18% tip that I can see & House of Blues in DTD is participating. Am I missing anything here?
