I am considering this for either lunch or dinner. Are all meals princess meals? I looked at the menu on allearsnet and their is definitly unique items. Is this a must see restaurant? Atmoshere looks good but what about the food? WE are willing to try new things......just looking for any opinions! thanks!! :goodvibes

DD5 and I had lunch there in October and are going back for lunch again in May. The food is pretty good. There is a cold buffet with shrimp, meats, cheeses, and salads that is very good. You also order off a menu for your main course. The desserts are great. All meals at Akershus are princess meals. We had Ariel in the lobby and then Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora visited the tables. The character interaction was just ok, the princesses only came around once and didn't stay too long at each table. We've done the breakfast as well, but I like the food at lunch a lot better.

I think that the food is excellent. We have been every time we have been to WDW. I have stated many times on this forum that I wouldnt go back while the princesses are there. Well, I told the kids and there were tears. I have given in and am going back. I can honestly say I cant wait as I much prefer this restaurant to many others in Epcot. I know it will be much noisier but I will enjoy the food, thats for sure.
I would say look at the menu first - do not contemplate going if the menu doesnt appeal. My kids are very much into fish and salads so for them this is pure nectar.

I went for lunch in Oct, I enjoyed several of the items on the cold buffet, I'd order a different entree though, I had the lamb, and thought it was unusually fatty pieces. I wasn't feeling well that day though, (horrible sunburn,) so that may of impaired my judgement.

Thank you, Princess aurora!!! Those desserts look great!!! If I call WDW dine, does this meal require a cc deposit? If so, do you know how much? Thanks :cool1:

Doh! I can't remember if it was that or Ohana that I needed to put a deposit on. I think it was this one. AND they didn't charge my card in advance like Cindy's. I went to Dreams Unlimited for my travel, gave them my credit card number and they gave that to Disney Dining to guarentee the ressie. If you are a no show, I believe there is a charge unless you cancel.

We loved Akershus! I'd eat there again anytime. We were there in mid-December for a 3:30 lunch. The place was nearly empty! It was so great! We had a fantastic server named Carrie. The cold appetizer buffet is good and lets you try a little something different. We saw Ariel at the door, Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora. I loved the food! I was a little worried when I booked it because I've never eaten Norwegian. It was wonderful!

My Dsis and I had dinner here with her two kids in December. The princess interaction was brief but good. The food was OK. The cold appetizer buffet does have some interesting choices--herrings, pickles, cheeses, salads, etc. I enjoyed this more than my main dish, which was a vegetable pasta. It was not bad, but nothing special either. Dsis had the salmon, which was a bit overcooked. The kids ate their meals, and were well behaved. I'd go back if the kids wanted to, but would not go again without them.

We ate lunch there in early Nov.... food was pretty good... I had some sort of pasta thing... DH had soup and sandwich, BF had chicken? Kids split some ravioli.

We saw:
Ariel (in lobby)
Belle
Alice
Jasmine

They require a credit card number as a guarantee only. They will not charge it at reservation time. If you don't show and didn't cancel at least 48 hours in advance, they will charge a $10 fee to your credit card. If you show, you pay as you normally would.

I love the food there -- but some people hate it. It helps a LOT if you like seafood. It isn't all pickled herring! There is plenty of normal seafood and plenty of completely non-seafood yummies as well. I could eat nothing but lefse with goat cheese (and dessert!) and be happy.

You said the magic words when you said "willing to try new things"! :thumbsup2 I'll bet you really like it. But it ain't your dad's meat and potatoes.

I also swore I would never return while there were princesses. But for some reason I found myself making a solo ADR there next month while attending a conference at the Hilton. I figure it's only $4 more than Cape May. And it's not as if I dislike princesses!
