Ok here's my dilemma - I LOVE Tangierine Cafe - I always get the Vegetarian Platter which has tabouleh, couscous, lentil salad, marinated olives, hummus & bread. For my next trip, it's just a GF & myself, so we'd love to try Restaraunt Marrakesh. However, after looking at the menu, I don't see any offerings that have even 2 of my favorites included.

Can anyone tell me (a picture would even be better) about the Jasminas Salad at Marrekesh? It says it's an assortment of fresh vegetable salads - could this possibly include lentil salad or marinated olives - or tabouleh or hummus (yes I know, technically not a vegetable!)?

I'm thinking I may just have to eat CS at Tangierine Cafe if I have to have those things.

I feel the same way about these 2 places. Love TC, fearful of trying RM. I can't seem to find anything I am all that crazy about on their menu.:guilty:

We love TC too and will be trying Marrakesh in Oct...the allearsnet menu is not updated but the Dis one is..we looked at the picture menu at Marrakesh and it looks fantastic!

Please let us know how Marrakesh is in October!!!

My BIL got the Jasmine salad last month, and I just can't remember what was in it! I remember it was not a traditional salad- it had like 4 or 5 different things on it. I know there were olives. He said it was wonderful. Wish I could tell you more but we were a party of 10 and I wasn't next to him!

The food was terrific and we plan to return.

Marrakesh is a must do for us every trip. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is different from the usual hustle and bustle of Disney dining. Do you order the veggie platter because you don't eat meat or just because of the yummy factor? If you do eat meat, or are a partial vegetarian like me, there are many delicious options. Chicken bastilla, beef brewat roll, seafood bastilla, vegetable couscous, and the brochette of beef are all things that hubby and I can highly recommend. We always split the sultan's sampler which comes with most of above. Good luck deciding. Let me know if you have any questions. The only thing that I have ordered that I didn't love was an apple crepe dessert and it was just WAY too sweet for me. Good rule of thumb for us is if bastilla is in the name, it's yummy!!

I have eaten there twice and enjoyed myself. Service was above average to fantastic compared to other places on Disney. The belly dancer made it all worth it.

I would have booked this again. My only reason as to why not? Well I went there with hubby and I am worried the memories would be too much in this time of trying to forget the pain. That and I am trying things that are different and new or things it has been forever since I have been there.

My DW and I have dined at Marrakesh twice for dinner. The first time was very good, the second time only so-so. TC has always been great and a much better value. Unfortunately, they no longer have the schwarma sandwich, only the platters. The sandwich was a favorite of mine. The platters are still very good, both lamb and chicken. We much prefer TC especially when we dine outside during a Mo'Rockin' set. :thumbsup2

DH and I are trying Marrakesh for our Anniversary dinner in Oct. It will be our first time dining in the world without the kiddos! We can't wait. I hope we enjoy it as much as all of you.

Dinner at RM was the highlight of my trip last year. We were lucky enough to sit near the musicians. There was one stringed instrument that really fascinated me. Well when they were done playing, we were getting up to leave and the gentleman playing came over to me and talked to us for quite a while.

We had probably the best service, our waiter was very attentive and explained many of the dishes to us.

I personally had the lamb and it was so good. can't even remember what anyone else had, mine was so good I didn't care.

DH and I are hoping to escape for a meal alone there this year. We are traveling with 6 other people so who knows.

If you like Tangierine Cafe, I would say give Marrakesh a try. My DH & I ate there on our last visit about two years ago. We thought the food & the service was good. My husband liked his meal (he's not super picky, but often finds the food I like "wierd").

The problem was the couple at the table next to us were very rude & insulting to the waitress (the husband acted that way before even ordering!) about the flavors & spices in Moroccan cooking. They had only booked RM because it was the only seating left for the Candlelight Processional package.

I want to point out that in spite of this man's attitude, the waitress tried very hard to accomodate him. She was very patient & tried to find out what he usually liked to eat so she could suggest items on the menu that he might enjoy. He would have none of it and just continued to be rude to the poor girl. The only thing she didn't do was offer to have someone run over to American Adventure & get a him a hot dog (which he kept insisting was the only thing he would eat). I'm guessing had he asked nicely rather than insult her country's culinary tastes, that she may have offered to do just that.

At any rate, if you'd like to try RM but are unsure about what to choose, check with your waitperson. They may be able to help you pick based on what you liked from TC. Perhaps try it for lunch instead of dinner too so that if you don't like it, you haven't spent as much $$ on it.

I've had the Jasmina Salad - reminds me of a Greek Salad, minus the feta cheese. Basically it was iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, red onion and a vinegarette dressing. Might have forgotten a few ingredients - but I think I got the key ones. DEFINITELY no hummus or tabouleh on it. Tasty salad - just seemed like a standard american-ish (or Greekish) salad.
