Mama Melrose - Italian... spagetti and meatballs is pretty basic
I am an extremely picky eater with lots of food issues. I recently found out that I was borderline autistic as a child, so that might explain some of it, but I literally can NOT try new things as most foods will make me gag. I have to eat very plain foods, I don't like anything squishy, no fruits or veggies, and nothing that's all mixed together like a casserole or any kind of salad.
That being said, I also thought Mama Melrose would be a safe bet. WRONG! They don't actually serve any pasta. There were several items on the menu that I had to ask what they were because I was not familiar with the words they used. I ended up ordering off the kids' menu, I just asked for an adult portion of the kids' pasta with alfredo sauce. It was very good.
From one picky eater to another - you will find something to eat pretty much anywhere you go in WDW. You can always order from the kids menu, or ask to modify a dish - for example, if they have some sort of chicken covered in cheese, you can ask for it without the cheese or however you'd like it.
I really liked 'Ohana and I thought I would not find anything there to eat. The chips and dip were very good, they had some scalloped potatoes that looked gross but tasted very good, and you can ask for the meat to be cooked any way you like it. The beef was pretty rare, and I asked for some well done and they brought me some, no problem. The server even kept me updated on how long it would be, she came around a couple of times to let me know what the chef was doing.
I agree with going to a buffet. Boma was good, they have basic stuff on the kids section of the buffet and more interesting things as well. I stayed away from most of the weirder foods but it's also nice that at all WDW buffets, there are signs by each station that tell you what the food is, so there's no guessing.
You could always plan around what your BF and other friends want to eat, and you could pick up something else at a CS place at a different time and just go where they want to go to share the experience with them. As the picky one, you can't expect everyone else to forgo what they want just because YOU don't like it.
