Are reservations needed for Island's at RPR for their character dining? I wanted to eat there on our first night but I don't want to be locked into a time.

to secure your table, i would say yes.

call and see what they recommend to you about ressies.

I guess you could have a problem but overall I say wing it and eat when you want. The only place we make a reservation for is Emeril's and Tchoup Chop and that has included busy times of year as well as off season. If you are flexible you wont have a problem. The food and wait staff at Islands Dining room are my favorite!

let me rephrase my answer on the question of having ressies for a character meal.

depending on the date you go, could determine if there will be a crowd for it.
if the hotel is at 100% occupancy the night you want the character meal, it might be more could attend that same dinner

i believe the character dinners are on saturday at the hotels.

the only time i made a ressie for a character meal was for the breakfast at IOA. i did not go in a busy time and found out a ressie was not necessary for the date i took the boys afterall.

just call the hotel and ask them what their opinion is on it.
also, ask if there is any penalty if you make a ressie in advance and break it at the last minute.
