Response to football Experts (long)

Okay sweetie, first I am so terribly shocked you actually wrote all that  Why can't you talk that much to me  ;)

And I must say that you are being overly optimistic about a final score against Miami. If (and I do say if even though I am a huge OSU fan) OSU can beat Michigan we have a chance at "going all the way" But Michigan vs. Ohio State has usually been about who has more on the line and Michigan would like nothing better than to beat us at home after last years defeat. If we can beat the "demon up North" then I think we will be strong enough to beat whomever we go up against in the bowl game.

Talk is cheap...unless it's about sports...:smooth: ;)

We sure demolished those Golden Gophers last weekend, didn't we?:teeth:

And the fans behaved so well after the game didn't they?

Yes the score is optimistic but like what was said in thebeginning of this thread

We have stopped some members of the top 25 ranked offense and held them to less than 17 total points. Therefore Miami will not put up points against us

Miami is unwilling to run a run defense. Therefore if we have all three backs healthy and able to play the full game, Clarett will get over 200 yards rushing, Ross and Hall will get around (if not over) 100 yards rushing.

Miami is fast but Ohio States Corners will match them in speed (need I remind people about a certain fumble on our end zone that was picked up by the opposing team and would have gone for a touchdown except Gamble ran from the far end of the field, caught up with the guy and tackled while being blocked at the same time)

Clarett's 40 is sub 4.2
Gambles is sub 4.2.

Well see. My prediction is if Miami and OSU play, he whose defense get's that first big tackle (I'm talking about the one where no one knows how the guy on the receiving end gets up after it) will win the game. Both teams are possible to get that kind of hit. But I think OSU is more likely. We are power, Miami is finesse.

Oh Luis, you are so cute sometimes :)

see what I have to live with all the time everyone? ;)

kejoda, please remember that was a small percentage of Hawk fans who were celebrating the first time their team has gone undefeated in conference play since 1922. We weren't all there. Having travelled with the marching band in college I could tell stories about how terrible the fans are for the Florida Gators, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Illinois Fighting Ilini. However I realize not all of their fans were responsible for the actions of a few.
I think the Star Trib said it well yesterday when they said perhaps the Sports Commission at the 'Dome should put in hinged goalposts like they have in Iowa City. All stadiums should have them. I've seen enough drunken college students fall off those things and get hurt and bloody.

400+ yards rushing in the game?? I think the 42-3 score is more likely than that! :p

BTW, I've been wondering this all year -- how did OSU end up with 13 regular season games this year?? I thought the max. was 12?

We played a game called the Pigskin Classic all the way back in August.

As to the rushing being unrealistic:

Florida State and West Virginia racked up 659 yards rushing combined.

They aren't strictly running teams. Ohio State is.

Tell me it's still not possible. :teeth:

That is of course if they can live against Pitt. (and us against Michigan)

That's anywhere you put college students and alcohol in the same spot.

I mean all this week they have done nothing but talk about how Michigan players are fearing for their lives.

There has never been a death here in regards to the games and usually the problems start at night (worst riot was when Ohio State beat Notre Dame)

It's just nothing but immaturity and availability of alcohol.

Go Buckeyes!!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!!

Well, about as well as the PA ANNOUNCERS in the Metrodome after the game . . .

One thing I beg to differ with you on Luis is that the worst was not that fateful Notre Dame vs OSU game.... it got worse starting with that game. Apparently they are ready for the cops to be out in full force with riot gear this weekend. They fear that we will riot if we win and riot if we lose... after all that's what OSU college students & their buddies seemed to do for at least 5 years after that '95 game. I guess last year wasn't so bad but that is when they started suspending and expelling kids from school for their actions.

Ahhh... the joys of college football. Maybe we ought to be glad that we don't have playoffs... 13 or so games is bad enough.

And Luis I still think you are being way optimistic about OSU. I love the team and all that, but I am not holding my breath for a win against Michigan let alone Miami! I sure hope they win but I won't be shocked if they don't.

I'm not Saying Ohio State will beat anyone and everyone.

I'm just saying if it came down to me picking who we played, I would much rather pick Miami over Oklahoma, Texas, and Iowa. Those last three teams are just way too similiar to our style which would cause problems.

But you put us in a big passing play type offense and our 6'5" Corners will out reach the receivers everytime.

My parents have been going to these games for 32 years. The worst they have every seen was at Michigan State in 1968. They had to run after the game to get to their car and not even stay at their hotel.

I have been going to OSU games since I was 4. After the 95 game things did progressivley get worse. However, you have to remember, it is not only the OSU STUDENTS who are rioting. We are a big town with lots of BUCKEYE FANS who get out of control. Luis is correct, anytime you have alcohol and a game situation like this, you will have problems.

Elaine: Luis is correct, OSU is going to WIN!:o I am very optomistic this year. It is our turn to have the victory and put all the nay sayers in their place!!!;)

GO BUCKS!
