Response times?

Hi all...I'm kinda new to this whole Disney wedding planning thing...

I called to start the process two weeks ago yesterday and was told a sales manager would get in touch with me within two business days. The sales manager called me the next day. We made some preliminary arrangements, and she told me the total cost and what my deposit would be. I paid the deposit right then because I just wanted to get the ball rolling. I didn't quite understand what she said about when I would get the planning package, but I didn't think it would take more than two weeks...so I called them yesterday and asked the sales manager to call me back. She called today and said "well, once we get the deposit, we wait 14 days to send the packet out" my fiance told her (he took the call 'cause I gave her the wrong cell number) that we had already paid the deposit and she was like "oh...yeah...you're right, she did...we'll get that package moving right away and you should receive it later this week or early next week".

Okay, so here's my "problem" (and what I really want to know is if I'm over reacting)...our wedding is about 5 months away. It will be an "intimate" because it's just me and my DH2B. And I understand that the planning for that is not quite as detailed...but I keep hearing about the wonderful Disney service and can't quite get over that this woman was still waiting for a deposit that SHE took over the phone!!! I also understand sometimes things fall through the cracks...but this is my first experience with Disney and right now I'm a little concerned...

Also, not long after I got the CONFIRMATION of my deposit (which the sales manager was still waiting for) I called the Disney number on the back to try to make some upgrades to my package...they had no record of the confirmation number in their computer. I said maybe it was because it was through Disney weddings, but shouldn't there have been something there (at the regular Disney reservation number)???

Sorry this is so long but I'm just a little put off by this...

How long did it take you all to get your planning package (the first thing they send)??

Please tell me it's all going to work out okay...I've been so excited about this and now I feel like our little ceremony is going to get lost in all the busy Disney planning for other things...

OK it's true sometimes Disney Fairy Tale Weddings department is not always as on the ball as they should be.

I got my Planning Packet within 2 weeks of signing my contract and sending my deposit but I was a Custom Wedding but I'm pretty sure it's about the same.

Hopefully someone who has had an Intimate can put your mind at rest.

I didn't sign a contract...I guess they'll mail one to me but I would think paying the deposit would be a pretty good indication I'm on the "up and up"! LOL!

I'm probably just stressing a little too much...but I'm so excited! And I have so many questions/options to discuss with the planner...

I've visited any website I could find! That's how I found this place...I've been reading lots of the posts here and trying to get ideas...

Anyway...I'm rambling...but thank you again!

Don't worry, they're just slow. I booked my wedding at the one year mark, and was told since it was near the holidays it would take about a month to get my packet. They assign an EM then the EM sends the packet. We'll it ended up taking 2 1/2 months, because "I got lost in the new system." Apparnetly this is a common problem. Just keep calling back, once you get that it's all easy, so don't sweat it. As for the reservations I'm doing an add on so I already had mine first, but after I booked my wedding, I called to check on something on mine reservation, and they had trouble finding it, apparenlty they get moved around in the system when they get flagged for FTWs department, it's still there just harder to find. Have patience it'll all work out. But deffinatly call back if your worried. Good Luck

Whew...I'm feeling a little less like "bridezilla" now!

I should be getting my packet soon and I can start filling in the details (most of which I've already decided because I couldn't let this go and am sure I found EVERY SINGLE bit of information on the web!)

I was a bit dissapointed when I did finally get my packet, since I also knew it all from the internet. But it's still a good feeling knowing that yes you are planning your wedding offically.
