I have been reading the posts about some people randomly receiving postcards or e-mail offers, and I wondered about the whys and hows of the system. I have been registered at the WDW site, I checked off that I wanted to hear about any kinds of offers, I have made many trips to WDW Resorts over the years, and so I just wondered. I read someone's post to go back and re-do the checking off on the offers page, so I did that. Nothing. So, I decided to write and ask how they determine who gets offers. I got the form letter response right away, saying they were glad to hear from me and would be in contact. Here is the e-mail response they sent me tonight:

Dear Marie,

Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

We have your email address in our database here. If you haven't already, please
register with disneyworld.com as they also send out promotions.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

I guess this simply means the computer just randomly selects people from a list of e-mail adresses. This "answer" didn't really clear things up, but I thought it was of some interest to share it with all of you.

I got the same letter as you, followed up several days later with the following:

Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

As you may be aware, the various Walt Disney World Resorts do periodically offer
special resort programs or rates as a courtesy to our guests. However, in view
of the number of specials that may be in effect at any given time, we appreciate
your understanding that our cast members are unable to proactively provide
information regarding such programs. Rather, as resort offerings are heavily
advertised worldwide through both print and broadcast media, we encourage you to
watch for advertisements regarding resort specials through your local media
sources. Any offers that you learn of that would be applicable to you at the
time of your visit should then be mentioned when making your accommodation
arrangements. Please note that the name of the specific program is required in
order to access the appropriate information in our computers.

For reservation assistance, please contact the Disney Reservation Center
directly by calling 407-W-DISNEY (934-7639).

Please note that special programs are offered on a first-come, first-served
basis and are subject to availability.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Melissa Perry

DMRick -- Wow -- your second letter was more specific than the one I just got, but basically says the same thing only drawn out -- that Disney selects people at random to receive their promotions online or through the mail. I gather no one can request to receive an offer. At least that's what I got from it.

Thanks for sharing. :D Maybe I'll get this letter too in a few days. I love to see mail from WDW -- any kind of mail!

Don't feel bad I don't get the offers either and like you are also registered on their website. A coworker of mine told me today that she received a post card offer in the mail from Disney. She is not registered on their site and even though she went to WDW last year, hasn't stayed on the property for awhile but she got the offer. This isn't the first time either. She states that she has received these offers at least 2 times last year and one for this year. Her last stay on grounds several years ago was at a moderate and for only 3 days so it is not like she is staying at a deluxe for a week or two as I see many on this board are doing frequently. Some people are just lucky.
