We are booked for a weekend in October (Oct. 6th - 11th). We are staying at Caribbean Beach. Going specifically for the Food & Wine Festival. Trying to switch to an EPCOT resort without any luck. This makes me a little nervous anticipating the crowds. Do you think they will open up more rooms with the 50th Celebration beginning? Second thinking this trip.

All of the rooms at the open resorts are bookable. BWI is the only Crescent Lake resort that has no projected opening date as of today. If it opens in time for the 50th, you will see more rooms come online.

October is a popular month to go to WDW. A lot of schools have fall breaks in October. The Epcot resorts are a very popular place to stay during Food and Wine. Add in the fact that the 50th Anniversary will be going on and you will see crowds during your trip. :)

I would be shocked if Boardwalk isn't open by October. Also, have you checked the Swan and Dolphin?

I am also going in October and hope more resorts get opened up by then. There may be a good chance for something like Boardwalk to open since its already got its DVC section open, but since transportation is a challenge for Disney right now, I'm not too hopeful anything else will open up soon.

They are not holding back room in the Crescent lake resorts as @Marionnette indicated above. The only inventory not available is the the BWI with about 378 rooms since it does not have a reopening date announced.

To add to @Bobb_o comments about the Swan and Dolphin there is now the new Swan Reserve that is scheduled for a Sept.1st opening.

My friends were thinking of taking a first trip those exact dates because it is when their school fall break happens (columbus day weekend). That weekend is always pretty busy because so many schools have breaks, and the weather is better than the summer, but I had to also warn them the 50th would make it absolutely insane. Not to mention Ratatouille is opening, it is food and wine, and there is a lot of anticipation Harmonious may open by then, all of which makes Epcot resorts especially popular.

I would be second-thinking the trip because the crowds would be bad. But if you do go, caribbean beach is a decent choice because you have easy access to Epcot on the skyliner.

We booked in late March for arrival September 27 and staying til October 7th for pre and post 50th celebration. This is our 3rd trip and 1st time at a value resort. Due to last minute planning and skyrocketing pricing, we had either ASM or POP as options (even AoA was over $450/night then). We chose POP only because of the room decor. Today as I was looking at extending our trip, only AoA, Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk are available to book for those same dates. With the last 2 at over $850/NIGHT!!! I guess we will be happy we paid $204/night.

We booked our 50th weekend at CR last year, only a couple of days after the 499 mark, and then tacked on a Poly stay a couple of months ago to extend the trip to 2 weeks. I honestly didn't want to go longer than just the 50th weekend but the Canadian border still being closed means that my partner can't come with me next month and our big trip has to be postponed, I figured we were already going that weekend so just put it for then.

Pre-Covid, October was starting to displace the traditional summer months as The Busy Time to the point where Disney had been offering free dining in the the summer, which was unheard of. The circumstances this year are ripe for a return to crowds imo. With pent up travel demand and more people being vaccinated (youth trials have already started), the 50th, school breaks, etc. I expect this October to be a madhouse basically all month, only possibly getting better after Indigenous Peoples Day weekend crowds leave. Especially if international guests are able to start returning. I'm not worried about crowds or getting things done because of the length of our trip, but yeah.

We tried to book for mid-November and all that was available was CBR pirate room and AoA suite. We ended up booking the Swan for the same price as CBR🤷‍♀️ I was looking forward to the Skyliner but oh well. I’ve never had such trouble finding a room. Hoping the Swan is okay.

The skyliner to Epcot is amazing I am sure you will have so much fun, you shouldn't cancel you will regret it.
We went last October the only really busy days were weekends because of locals/ APs
