As far as I can tell, the only resorts that will take a family of 5 (no children under 3) are some of the Deluxe (excludes AKL, WL, and BI). Are there any other resorts? I'm talking about the standard rooms, not the suites. Also, where is the "extra" bed? It seems that the rooms have 2 queens and a couch. Does a bed pull out of the couch, or are you supposed to just sleep on the couch?

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks. :)

The rooms we've stayed in at the Polynesian and the Contemporary sleep 5. Yes, the couch is like a daybed - it doesn't pull out, the pillows just come off. We never used it to sleep but it was pretty large and comfortable. I could be wrong but I don't think std rooms at the WL sleep more than four. The cabins at Fort Wilderness sleep 6 and also have a kitchen. Check AllEars.net for resort information and if you do have to book a deluxe, check Mousesavers.com for discount codes or consider buying an Annual Pass to get a room discount (only need one to book room at a discount). You won't regret staying at a deluxe, they are very nice and in convenient locations. We find we can shave a day off our trip by staying so close to the action so it helps justify the price.

Port Orleans Riverside sleeps 5 with a trundle bed. However, we (a family of 5) found it convenient to get two rooms at a value (we liked Pop!)

Well you are just about right on the facts. The Deluxe resorts will be your best bet for a party of 5. However, the standard category is not what is offered for party of 5 normally, it is the next level up. The 2 queen beds and sofa/couch (daybed) folds out flat and is made as a single/twin bed for the extra person. Standard rms at most resorts are only party of 4 with the 2 queen beds, anymore persons than 4, the safety codes require a second room and you can request this rm as a connecting rm. Hope this helps, also be carefull when calling DRC in making a reservation, they now offer CMs incentives for booking higher priced packages, be sure you know what you want and what has been booked on your behalf.

We originally booked POR with 5 in our party. But my son ( the yougest of us) is 11. He would not fit on the so called TRUNDLE . We changed to POP and have connecting rooms. The cost is about the same if not better. We went for the ungraded view at POP. This way we all have are own beds except for me and DH.
Hopes this helps...

All deluxe resorts (with the exception of WL and AKL) will allow 5 in their standard rooms. They have 2 queen beds and a daybed. Unless they have changed since we went in '99, the BWI does have a daybed, but it is a little smaller than the daybeds offered at the other deluxe resorts. If you need the daybed for a teen, I would not recommend this resort as it is a little shorter than the daybed at YC if I remember correctly. At WL & AKL you would have to get a deluxe room in order to fit 5.

We have stayed at POR with 5. However, the trundle is small and not very comfortable. Plus it is close to the floor (it fits under the double bed and doesn't pull up). We did stay in MB at POR this past June and they gave us a rollaway for the 5th person as those rooms don't have the trundle. It cost $15/night (same as the trundle). That was much better but the room was a little crowded, but it didn't bother us.

The other option would be to get 2 rooms at a value resort. You would get much more room plus you will have 2 bathrooms and 2 TVs. You could also stay at a cabin in FW. They sleep six, but only have 1 bathroom.
