Resorts for convenience

Hi there,

OK - still trying to figure out where I want to stay. I need to probably go about 5 times to visit all of the hotels that I want to go to, but nonetheless I need to make a decision.

I realize that the monorail hotels are the most convenient for transportation to MK and Epcot.

After that, which hotels give convenient transportation. Based on what I see most of the hotels are by bus! Do any of the other hotels have any other types of transportation to the parks? What are the bus routes like - are there multiple hotel stops? Multiple park stops?

We stayed at AKL and loved it, but this time will not stay there because it is too far from the parks for our liking. Last time we did not do the parks but this time we will do 6 days park hopper.

Can you see the fireworks or anything from any hotels other than the monorail resorts?

Thanks so much for helping this newbie out!

From the Epcot resorts you can walk to Epcot and take a boat or walk to MGM. It is great fun and very convenient for those two parks.

Madalex is right about Epcot-area resorts being easily accessible to Epcot and MGM. We stayed at the BC and took the bus to MK but walked to Epcot and boated to MGM.

Some others not mentioned: POR, POFQ, OKW & SSR has access to DTD by boat or walkway, bus everywhere else. All values, CSR, CBR, and AKL bus you everywhere. Did I miss any?

What parks will you visit most often? We prefer Epcot-area resorts b/c we like Epcot the best. If you have kiddos and think you'll be at MK a lot, choose one of those. Resorts have a regular and efficient bus system, but when all else fails, grab your car or a cab! :moped:

Oh, I can't really help you on multiple stops at resorts, but a rule of thumb..the more spread out it is, the more stops. You can count on the values and some others to have many stops before they leave the resort.

For BWI, BC, YC and S/D, some of them share a bus, but there is only one stop per hotel. That really helps cut the time.

And you can see some fireworks from the MK and Epcot-area resorts if you have a room high enough and facing the park.

The WL has great bus service to AK, Epcot & MGM. It has a boat to the MK. WL only has the one bus stop at the resort (as most of the deluxes). And it really is a great resort. My personal favorite.

Each Value resort only has one bus stop at the front of the resort, however, sometimes the 3 All-Stars share buses.

It really depends on what area you want to be closest to and most 'convenient' to.

I always thought I prefered being in the DTD or MK areas, until I stayed at the Dolphin. The Epcot area hotels are in the middle of everything. Walk to 4 other hotels, Epcot and MGM or boat to MGM and Epcot. The bus trip to MK and DTD is not very long. The longest bus ride would be to AK, which is a non-issue to me since I don't go there.
