Has anyone ever had items they have bought while at Disney shipped back home via their Disney resort or Disney merchant? We go during Thanksgiving week and several years ago it seemed like there was such a long wait for them to be shipped from Disney to our home, we took them to a UPS store and shipped them ourselves. We started doing this since the year of 911 and the heightened security, it just seems easier than trying to take these extra items home on a plane. If you did have items shipped through Disney, how did it go?

The other issue was, Disney would not ship "food" items such as chocolates and their powdered drink mixes (cocoa, lemonade, etc.). Does anyone know if their policy has changed on this or who would I contact to find these things out?

Obviously we do alot of holiday shopping while at Disney for the "hard-to-buy for" crowd. Thanks for your help!

A lot of people have Disney ship their purchases. If you ask to have it shipped when you purchase an item and it is going out of the state of Florida, you don't pay state sales tax. That pretty much offsets the cost of shipping. I have no idea what the policy is on food items, but my sister works at DTD and she packages things for shipping all the time.

Last year I did a lot of Christmas shopping right after Thanksgiving in the big Disney store in DTD. I must have spent about $300!!! I did get a 10% discount with either my AP or DVC..can't remember which it was. So, that 10% offset the cost of shipping, and there was no sales tax applied. Very good deal. The only 'problem' (and it's really not a problem) was that you have to stand there, while the CM wraps/boxes everything up. The people behind you can get a bit nudgy!!! But, I'll be doing that again this trip also. I love getting that box delivered a week or so later....and my dd and dh have no idea what I bought!!!!

We just got back a few weeks ago and shipped some things home (based on my friends recommendations she is an avid user of the shipping service and loves it, she has never had any problems and things have always arrived in perfect shape including delicate items) I too had a good experience my items arrived as promised and were perfect(my daughter purchased a large snow globe) The price for shipping was also very reasonable.

We usually ship a box to ourselves with snacks etc.

We empty it and then place our sovies in this box to ship back.

I include packing tape and a return address label inside the box so that I can use these two items for the return trip.

We have shipped back the box 2 ways
1 ups
2 From the resorts fron desk. You can ship "standar" (I can't remember if this is UPS or US post office or Fed ex.
We have often paid for standard and have had a "free" upgrade to fed ex.

Shipping through the front desk is often quicker than shipping the souvies/gifts from the Various gift shops. Takes them longer to handle and ship the items.

Isn't shopping at Disney great!!!!

Wow, what an awesome idea. We are going to ship ourselves a package of water and snacks down, but never thought to use the same box, package it up ourselves and ship it back home so we don't have to lug so much stuff. These boards are great for these ideas. You people think of everything??? :flower:

we did this last sept
and it took forever to get the stuff
but when it did come it was all in order and nothing was broken
