resort upgrades?

Is there such thing as getting an upgrade from a value to a moderate or moderate to delux with a small price increase?

has this ever happened to anyone? If so how did you go about it?

1) Not unless there is an over-sold (or other such) situation.
2) And, it is WDW's offer, about 3-5 days ahead of your check-in.
3) But, you can always hope for that phone call.

Only in RARE instances where Disney is overbooked and it's their idea.
