Hello all,

This is my first time posting on the boards, although i’ve been a long time reader (And DIS Unplugged viewer) ever since my girlfriend and I took our first WDW trip Christmas 2016 (We stayed at POR). Well long story short we’ve decided to visit WDW again this Christmas. The last week of September I booked a standard room with park tickets at Caribbean Beach for the dates of Monday December 23rd through Thursday December 26th. Well this past Friday while at work I noticed an incoming call from Lake Buena Vista, FL. I thought to myself that must be Disney I wonder why they’re calling, but I couldn’t take the call at the moment and no voicemail was left. Yesterday (Saturday) morning my phone rings again at 9am and again Lake Buena Vista, FL, this time I’m home and can take the call. The Disney representative asks if I would be willing to take a complimentary deluxe resort upgrade from Caribbean Beach to Boardwalk Inn. Knowing I probably wouldn’t have been able to realistically afford a deluxe resort at Disney in the near future I immediately said yes, he quickly responded back the upgrade was complete, I ended the call, and hopped on my Disney experience to confirm this wasn’t a weird “I’m ready for a vacation dream”. I had little knowledge about any deluxe resorts other than the ones on the monorail loop so my girlfriend and I are getting up to speed about all Boardwalk has to offer. I jumped on the boards searching if resort upgrades happen often and to my surprise 99% of the posts say they are very rare. The original reason I booked at Caribbean Beach was to experience the Skyliner (pre-crash). Now that I think about it I wonder if the reason we got upgraded was because Disney knows a ton of people want to/are booking Caribbean Beach because of the Skyliner and to prevent the possible guests from seeing all rooms unavailable on their website at Caribbean Beach when they attempt to book, guests that have already booked Caribbean Beach in advance are being offered upgrades to deluxe resorts they may have issue with filling occupancy, in hopes to continually have empty rooms available to fill for possible guests. Either way I’m even my excited now to visit WDW again! To everyone the has stayed at the Boardwalk how to your like it compared to other resorts? Looks nice minus to cheesy clown pool. Anyone else coming to WDW for Christmas? Sorry the post was so long lol!

WOW!!! That is a fabulous upgrade!!!

The BWI is absolutely one of the very best deluxe resorts at WDW!!! You have an easy walk or boat ride to either DHS or Epcot. You can also walk over to the Swan or Dolphin next door for their dining options or across the way to the YC/BC for theirs. The BWI has lots of night time entertainment right there on the BW. It is so much fun! Ample Hills ice cream is awesome! Surrey bikes are available for rental. Buses to MK or AK do not take long. The rooms are large, comfortable and. beautiful!!!

Congratulations!! I wish that WDW would call me with an offer like that!

Enjoy!

Lucky you, the BWI is our favorite resort by far. Such a nice way to walk out the back entrance of Epcot and be right at your room and really not a far walk to HS. Enjoy!

I got a call on Friday night. Also staying at the Caribbean Beach in November and got offered an upgrade to Beach Club. I took it. I've stayed onsite 12 times, and never once been offered an upgrade like this!! I also wondered if it was because of the Skyliner, which was in fact the reason I booked Caribbean Beach to begin with. Congrats on your upgrade!

I just talked to one of my friends who stayed at CBR very recently. She said the construction noise from Riviera started very early (like before 6 a.m.) and people were complaining. Her guess is that they are under a strict deadline to get Riviera finished and therefore have to put in more hours in construction. So maybe they are moving people out of CBR for fewer construction noise complaints.

May have to block out rooms closest to the building or something

This is AWESOME! I never stayed at Boardwalk before, but I have perused the shops and what not near the resort. It seems really nice from the outside. Puls you’re SOOOO close to EPCOT and DHS! I will be staying at CB my next trip 9/2020 for the first time. :-)

Glad to now know I wasn't the only one that got upgraded from moderate to deluxe! Enjoy your vacation!

That’s awesome. Congratulations

I am betting they are planning to make some skyliner modifications after the recent crash. That, coupled with Riviera construction means they are going to have to block off some rooms.

Wow!! Congrats to you both. Our home resort is BW. We love it. Also recently stayed at BC and it's also amazing. Have a great time! Such an awesome upgrade!!!

I was so excited for you I forgot to answer you.... Boardwalk has lots of options for entertainment. Coney Island Chris performs on the Boardwalk at night....cool show if you can fit it in and he's scheduled that week. I was hesitant to stay at Boardwalk the first time and I loved it. Pool looks cheesy, but so much fun. I really like the creepy clown slide lol. It's a beautiful resort inside and the lake is gorgeous. Boardwalk has surrey bike rentals, which are fun. Ample Hills Creamery has AMAZING ice cream. There is a pizza window open pretty late which we love when we come home from the parks. There are a few restaurants right there if you are looking to do any sit down meals. We like the italian restaurant Trattoria al Forno and ESPN club if football is on. The others are Flying Fish and Big River Grill, but I can't comment on those as I've not experienced them. There are also fun carts with basically carnival food. Love love love the Boardwalk!!! Happy Disney!!!
