Hello all,
This is my first time posting on the boards, although i’ve been a long time reader (And DIS Unplugged viewer) ever since my girlfriend and I took our first WDW trip Christmas 2016 (We stayed at POR). Well long story short we’ve decided to visit WDW again this Christmas. The last week of September I booked a standard room with park tickets at Caribbean Beach for the dates of Monday December 23rd through Thursday December 26th. Well this past Friday while at work I noticed an incoming call from Lake Buena Vista, FL. I thought to myself that must be Disney I wonder why they’re calling, but I couldn’t take the call at the moment and no voicemail was left. Yesterday (Saturday) morning my phone rings again at 9am and again Lake Buena Vista, FL, this time I’m home and can take the call. The Disney representative asks if I would be willing to take a complimentary deluxe resort upgrade from Caribbean Beach to Boardwalk Inn. Knowing I probably wouldn’t have been able to realistically afford a deluxe resort at Disney in the near future I immediately said yes, he quickly responded back the upgrade was complete, I ended the call, and hopped on my Disney experience to confirm this wasn’t a weird “I’m ready for a vacation dream”. I had little knowledge about any deluxe resorts other than the ones on the monorail loop so my girlfriend and I are getting up to speed about all Boardwalk has to offer. I jumped on the boards searching if resort upgrades happen often and to my surprise 99% of the posts say they are very rare. The original reason I booked at Caribbean Beach was to experience the Skyliner (pre-crash). Now that I think about it I wonder if the reason we got upgraded was because Disney knows a ton of people want to/are booking Caribbean Beach because of the Skyliner and to prevent the possible guests from seeing all rooms unavailable on their website at Caribbean Beach when they attempt to book, guests that have already booked Caribbean Beach in advance are being offered upgrades to deluxe resorts they may have issue with filling occupancy, in hopes to continually have empty rooms available to fill for possible guests. Either way I’m even my excited now to visit WDW again! To everyone the has stayed at the Boardwalk how to your like it compared to other resorts? Looks nice minus to cheesy clown pool. Anyone else coming to WDW for Christmas? Sorry the post was so long lol!
