Resort Upgrade during Free Dining

We where fortunate enough to have our Resevation upgraded during Freedining in 07. POP to Saratoga Springs. I don't know how random that was, my guess is the Demand on POP during Free dining. I havn't seen or heard of this happening yet this year. Courious to know if that has happend to any one yet this year. $ 82 a night At Saratoga was amazing....

I have POP booked, 2 rooms, 10 nights Boy, would that upgrade be nice with 4 kids! I could actually do like 1 large suitcase

It was such an amazing differnce and and comfort level. Made home made Breadkfest every morning, did a load of was after each day. It was amazing to arrive home with out dirty laundry.
Makes me wanna be a vacation club member.

Oh boy I loved it too. The one bedroom at SSR was great for the kitchen and I loved going home without 3 suitcases of dirty laundry. The 3 other parties I was traveling with also go their own 1 bedroom,

It wasn't free dining- we were there in Feb. 2007. We had the ASM booked, but thanks to a cheerleader competition, they moved us to the AKL. Awesome thing for our first trip to Disney.

We you all upgraded by surprise once you got to POP to register, or were you notified before arrival...? If not until you were at POP, how did you get to SSR if you had arrived on DME? Thanks!

That upgrade last year was amazing.. I got a 1BR at OKW and wow, that made me want to buy DVC even more...

I read last June that some people on these boards were getting emails (with pins or codes i guess) for the free uppgrade to SSR or OKW during FD. Some were getting 1bdrm some studios. After a few calls 2 out of the 4 rooms in our GG had the code attached to our name. We were able to apply the code to all 4 rooms since we were a GG and all loved the upgrade.

I am doubtful that that will happen again.Apparently, it was a computer glitch last year that caused a major overbooking at POP, it has since been fixed.You can still hope though.

Do we know for sure that it was a computer glitch? Because I thought it was because the values were completely sold out and they had people trying to book them almost daily that had to be turned away. I was hoping that was the case because the same thing is happening again this year...values are sold-out and there's still another month (and then some) to book the free DDP promo. Oh well, I guess time will tell!

I was at ASMO last year and got the upgrade, I had some other issues which caused me to deal directly with the corporate office, who told me it was because the values were overbooked. and they wanted to free up rooms. People who booked with in a certain time frame where offered the deal, and they rooms were given on a first come first serve basis. It was strictly for people staying over labor day because they like to have available rooms for people coming in on the long weekend who prefer values for a few nights.

I too was told it was a computer glitch that allowed one of the value resorts to be overbooked/oversold. There is still availability this year for the value resorts anyway. I put in Aug 31-Sept 14 ( which are the dates we already have booked at Pop) and both ASMu and ASSPorts are available for the entire 14 days. This encompasses Labor Day weekend.---Kathy

I know the first week of the promo is booked solid at POP. We're going 8/24-8/31 and I've been trying to add a day with no luck. I'll just have to keep trying.

I tried booking a non-Free Dining stay at POP just to see if they are sold out completely and there ARE still rooms available...just not for Free Dining. The dates I used were September 20-28 and there is still room available at rack rates.....I somehow doubt anyone will be getting upgrades this year. I think it was a one time only deal last year. Sorry!

There are still free dining rooms at POP for that time too, we are going 9/20-9/30. I am quite happy with 2 rooms at POP since we have only spent 2n on site EVER and if upgrades happen, that would be awesome (with 4 kids thats a LOTTA laundry when we get home!). But if not, thats okay, I am very happy just going to Disney!
