We are planning a split stay, one night at Pop, and 5 nights at AKL. How does switching resorts happen? Do the resorts move our luggage? What about "checking in" at the next resort?? Can someone explain the process, and does it take "all day" LOL......... I'd appreciate any info....... I asked this on another thread, but decided it may get lost over there, so I'm asking here.

Thanks everyone!!!

We switched from POR to CSR in July. We had driven to WDW so we chose to transfer our luggage ourselves. We made our switching day a nonpark day and went to check in at CSR while the kids were at a cooking class. Our room wasn't ready yet (10 am), but they gave us a number to call to check when it would be ready. After picking up the kids we went to lunch and toured SSR. Even though our room wasn't ready we went back to CSR. The line to check in was huge so I grabbed a mgr that was walking around. He said there had been a computer problem and asked for my room keys. He went to the back and came out with new keys. I really think the original room wasnt ready and they gave us one that was. His service was great. It was a little of a hassle not being able to get into our room, but I think the cm who checked us in was a little "slow". The experience wasn't too bad because we are doing another split stay next July. ;)

Thanks for the info............. we are hoping to have the resort transfer our luggage over, but if we have to still "check - in" would it be better to just do it all ourselves? I'd rather not use an entire day to transfer resorts.......... you know!!!

Thanks!

:wave2: We've talked about doing a split during our stay. It's sounds like a great way to try a couple of resorts during one vacation; however, like you I don't want it to be an all day thing either. Is there a fee for having your bags transferred from one resort to the next? :tilt:

I am interested to know the answer to your questions as well. We are staying one night at CR and 3 at YC.

I do not think there is a fee............ but, I'm not certain. I've never heard of that. I just don't want the process of moving resorts to be an all day ordeal!!! I don't know if Pop will transfer our luggage, and then AKL give us a room without us physically being there for all of it!!! I'm hoping the transfer can take place, and when we go to AKL, we just grab our keys....... I'm hoping its not a hassle.

So, who's transferred?? How'd it go??? Thanks

Bell Services at Pop can transfer your bags over the AKL free of charge. How long that will take is up in the air. I have heard of bags arriving around 5pm in rare instances.

You will still need to do a regular full check-in at AKL when you arrive. Bell Services can bring your bags up after you are in your room.

Assuming you won't have a rental car, it might make more sense for one member of your party to take a taxi over to AKL and take care of all the check-in stuff early so it doesn't eat up your day-- and meet up with your party when you're done.

Solo -- Thank You!!! That's what I wanted to know, if we should just go over early and check in at AKL. We will have our car, so I think that we'll just move everything ourselves. I'm just hoping it doesn't take a LONG time to do it. We can move over early though right, even if the room isn't ready....... we are early birds, so that may help the process. I hope!!!!Thanks so much!!!!

You can check in as early as you like; however, your room may not be ready until much later in the day. You can leave luggage with bell services and have them deliver it for you.

We did a resort hop on our last visit. Stayed 3 nights at AKL, then 4 nights at CSR. Bell services transferred our luggage for us from AKL to CSR. All we had to do was check in and have the bags delivered.

Have a great trip!

Thanks........... DH called me a little while ago, and I think we are just going to stay at AKL the entire trip. NO switching!!!! IF we do keep it the way we've got it now, then we'll just get up early and move ourselves......... I did know that the room may not be ready, but at least we'll be all checked in.

Thanks everyone......... I appreciate it.
