There always seems to be mention of people taking their own shampoo and soap to use. Is the resort supplied shampoo and soap really bad? :confused3 I was hoping to not have to take this on our trip and just use what was in the room.

Help!

No, it is not bad. It's just nice having your own personal toiletries for the shower, especially bath gel since the bath soaps are bars and well, it's gross to share and it would be hard to tell whose bar is whose in the shower ;)

If your family has preferences as to what shampoo or body wash you'd like to use, bring a travel sized version of them :)

Not at all. The WDW Resort toiletries are very nice. If you don't want to share soap like the poster above, just get extra bars from housekeeping & put the bars in a dry washcloth when you're done.

Funny, I've never noticed people complaining about resort shampoo/soap.

We visit WDW frequently (4+ times per year) and find their bath products are just fine. In fact, we bring the leftovers home.

well I think it would depend on where you are staying. We just stayed a couple nights a Pop for the first time and they get super basic products (a bar of soap and a combo shampoo/conditioner). I hadn't expected that as DVC gets normal products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap).

So if I had to stay at a value again I would need my own products. I thought we could get by for 2 days since we were getting housekeeping each morning but I was wrong.

I'm picky when it comes to conditioner and I never take chances of being without one I like. But the stuff at WDW is really good and I end up bringing the body wash and shampoo with me when I travel other places to use (because I don't trust what may be in those hotels ;) ) But I am truly picky when it comes to my hair products and never go anywhere without being prepared for potential healthy/beauty needs. (ETA: I've only stayed in the Deluxe Villas because we always need a 2 bdrm so I don't know if it's different stuff elsewhere).

My daughter (adult) uses the shampoo & conditioner supplied by WDW. I need more conditioner in my hair, so I bring my own products. WDW's products are very good, and certainly work for her.

I think that some people (like me) have problem hair & can only use certain products.

As for the soap - we bring our own. WDW's soap is VERY creamy. It is actually annoying at times because I feel like I can never wash it all off. It sticks to you & takes the clean feeling away. Give me my Zest or Irish Spring deodorent soap.

I agree! When i used WDW shampoo and cond. it felt like it didnt rinse out therefore uncontrolable.

I also think the bath products are nice and take home what we don't use.. (I do need to bring my own conditioner, but otherwise I'm usually good with what they supply) One time we were at the FW cabins, and I left some $ on the counter for mousekeeping, with a note asking for a few extra bars of soap to take home because I liked them so much. They left us a BAG full, probably 20 bars or more. I loved the smell and actually just finished the last bar a few months ago.

The only thing I have against their products are that I had a huge allergic reaction to the soap. I have never had a reaction like that to any other soap, so I am not sure why I did with Disney soap. My mom brought it home one time before I had ever gone to Disney myself. I got huge itchy spots on my body that were like a mix between hives and eczema. I was miserable. I couldn't figure out what was happening, so I thought about it and the only thing different I had been doing was using the bars of soap. Once I ditched the soap it went away. Needless to say, I do not use ANY of their products just in case, but most people seem to love them.

Just FYI at the moderates (or at least at POFQ) we had the H20 shampoo and conditioner and bar soap. The shampoo and conditioner were fine for my hair, but then again I don't "do" my hair in Disney. I throw it back in a braid and be done with it. I think we got two of each the first day, so that was enough for the three of us. It was nice not having to pack it.

I love the H2O bath products that are used at the DVC resorts. I even buy them to use at home. The smells remind me of Disney so it's a little Disney Magic at home.

We have to take our own because DD and I have very sensitive skin, can't risk using what they put out. My DH and stepson use it just fine without problems but DD and I would have skin rashes and would be miserable.

I used to use Disney's shampoo all the time. I liked it. My husband and kids still use Disney's.

Now that I highlight my hair I bring my own from home for color treated hair.

In my experience, hotel soap and shampoo is HEAVILY scented. Even before I had to go all-unscented at home, stuff in hotels seemed smellier than storebought products. I seal them in a Ziploc bag as soon as I get in the room or I'd be sneezing the whole time.

I like their shampoo but the bottles are so tiny. Might as well just bring a big bottle of shampoo for everyone.
