Resort "seasons"

I thought that the "season" rate for your arrival date applied throughout your stay...Didn't it used to be that way? Tonight I got a quote on the WDW site for a stay that starts on the last day of value season, but it priced the subsequent days higher... Am I crazy/wrong?

You now pay by the day. They closed that loophole awhile ago. Weekends and holidays can be higher also.
