resort room charges and Visa check card

Does anyone know OR has anyone ever used a Visa Check Card to allow them to have resort room key charging privileges?

Is it possible to use the Visa check card or does it have to be a real credit card?

Will the front desk tell you when they will run the charge through? I'd like to pay everything from my pocket (checking account or cash) and not have to charge on my CCs.

A visa check card is treated exactly like a visa card by anyone who accepts visa. To the merchant, there is no difference. Just be sure to use it as a visa, not a debit card.

The Visa check card will work just fine. We used it for room charging privileges and they will not charge the card until the end of your stay. I went to the front desk every few days and requested a print out and then paid cash for what was charged. You can also NOT request express checkout. That means you have to go to the front desk to physically check out and you can then pay however you choose for your charges.

Hey there,

One word of advice. Some check cards have a charge limit that may or may not hinder your purchases. Even though your checking account may have unlimited funds, you may be limited to a certain maximum charge amount per day.

My check card through Wells Fargo limits me to $500.00 per day regardless of my account balance, and regardless of whether it is used as a visa or a debit. If they do indeed put one large charge on your card at the end of your stay, your card may be declined even if you have the funds to pay for it all.

I would advise calling your bank and asking if there is a charge limit for your particular account.

I was just going to say the same thing about debit/visa cards! I tried to use mine for airfare. Wouldn't go through. I was thoroughly mortified. I knew I had way more than enough money in my account. But the bank set me straight on their limit. I really do have to get down there and have the limit redone. According to the bank you can do that. So, be forewarned. But other than that the debit cards are treated exactly the same.

You're right about the charge limit per day. I know they mentioned one but I don't remember the amount.

I'll have to call my credit union.

Thanks, it would have been very embarassing to have the card declined.

We've used our Visa check card to charge to the resort on all of our trips with no problems. Ours has a $1,500 a day limit.

Yes good advice - we have no daily limit on transactions - $400 on ATM but MANY banks do!!!!!!!!!!
