Which resort has the best meal without going broke? We are not staying at a Disney Resort, but we still can make ADR's for the meals, right? Can you drive and park there even though your not a guest? Any advice would be GREAT, thanks in advance!

Yes, you can make a reservation at a resort restaurant even if you are not staying on property.

Are you planning to visit any parks? Using Disney transportation is very easy if you are at the right park and choose the right resorts to visit.

If you are going to MK.... (Park at WTC) You can take the boat to Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness. The Fort has a very cheap buffet at Trails End. WL has a counter service called Roaring Forks that has a wide variety of quick-service foods. WL also has a full-service restaurant called Whispering Canyon. Prices are not bad there but the buffet at FW is much cheaper and you get tons of food.

If you are going to Hollywood Studios or Epcot (park at either park) you can take the boat or walk over to the Boardwalk resort or the Yacht and Beach Club. The Beach Club has a small, good cheap restaurant called Beaches and Creme. The Beach Club also has a nice buffet breakfast with characters at Cape May Cafe. The Boarwalk has ESPN, you can grab a pizza/slices, there is a booth to get fried chicken and things of that nature, they have the Boardwalk Bakery severing sandwiches and other small items. The Big River Brewing Company is on the Boardwalk and is not too expensive.

What does "WTC" stand for? We will probably drive to the parks. In this case what would be best?

What are somethings we could do on the "property" without going to the parks, even though, we are not staying at the Disney Resorts?

THANKS ;)

Check out the menus at www.allearsnet.com. I think breakfast is a great choice as far as keeping costs down. Kona at Poly is a great choice. Or you could with a buffet & try Bomas at AKL.

WTC=World Transportation Center. This is the parking lot you use when you drive to Magic Kingdom and/ or Epcot. You park there, then take monorail to either park. There is a parking fee.

The Boardwalk is a great place to spend time at night. The place comes alive with music and entertainment. Lots of action down there. Lots of places to grab a cheap or expensive meal. The Boardwalk is behind the Boardwalk resort (part of the Epcot grouping of resorts).

Fort Wilderness also has great fun. They have a campfire/sing along at night. There is horse back riding. Wagon rides. Pony rides. Petting zoo. Play ground. Again, you can take the boat from MK to get there. You can make reservations for Trails End and take a tour of the grounds before or after.

Just to clarify....the parking lot for MK is located at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). You can get monorails to the MK and Epcot from the TTC, but if you're only going to Epcot, it's much more convenient to drive to Epcot and park in the lot there. Unless, of course, you want to arrive via monorail, which is a fun ride in itself. :)

Best reasonable buffet, trails end. Best reasonable breakfast and diner, Captains Grille.

Thanks... I always get the names confused... I have too many names and things in my head and two small boys that manage to get everything mixed up... Call it the mommy stupids..... But the idea is the same.

And yes, it is easier to get to Epcot using their own parking lot but you can get there from the transportation center.

Also wanted to mention visiting the Downtown Disney area... This is not a park and is free to visit (you were looking for things not in a park). This is a large area with tons of shopping, restaurants, movies, a game center called Disney Quest (fee), and dancing (fee). You may want to check this area out for a meal. We always spend a few hours there each trip. We do some shopping and grab a meal.

You can park at any resort to experience the restaurants and shops there. They will give you a 3 hour parking pass. Remember that for many resort restauarants you will need ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) months in advance.
Two areas you can explore even if you are staying off site are Downtown Disney and the Boardwalk. Both are entertainment areas with shopping and dining opportunities.
You could also rent a boat from the resort marinas for a spin on the nearby lake. There is the water center at the CR where you can water ski, parasail etc.
Our favorite resort restaurants are the Kona Cafe at the Poly - the grounds are beautiful, take a look around while you are there. Also Jiko at the AKL. Jiko is expensive, but a wonderful meal. Also the Lodge is beautiful and if you are there before sunset you can walk out to the Savannah and see the animals.
The Cape May Cafe at the BC has a fun clambake each evening. It has seafood as well as non seafood items on the buffett.
At the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk, you can get typical Sports Bar food, and it is fun and not too expensive. Also at the Boardwalk is the Big River Grille which is a Brew Pub with typical "Pub Grub" and it is very good.
Have a Great Trip.

On your MK day ride the monorail (a ride in itself!) to Poly and eat at Kona Cafe (I love this place). You could linger a while, then go to the beach at the Poly to watch Wishes.

On you HS day, take the boat to Beach Club and eat at Cape May Clam bake (still a reasonable deal, by Disney standards), then walk around the lake, taking in the whole Boardwalk area.

Others have mentioned these, and have given you a lot of other great suggestions!
