A work colleague and I will be in Orlando in a few weeks for a training. We won't have time (gasp!) to visit any parks but we may be able to swing a couple of dinners at resorts. I would love to hear recommendations! We are both "kids at heart" and love food but aren't really interested in "fine dining" this trip- just something fun!
Thanks!

Sanaa is probably the best overall for food, and there are animals if you go daylight.

For fun, consider Whispering Canyon.

I would second Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge and also recommend O'Hana at the Polynesian Resort. Both offer good food and light hearted fun.

O'Hana is great and certainly a fun time!

Not technically a resort restaurant, but if FUN is the key, than Hoop de doo Review at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds is THE BEST!

'Ohana would be a pretty good choice for a resort. I'd also consider restaurants at Downtown Disney such as Raglan Road (maybe our favorite restaurant at Disney) or Flying Fish at Boardwalk (though it is more "fine dining" I suppose).

Another idea would be eating at one of the Epcot Resorts (Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin) - Captain's Grille or Cape May Cafe might be good choices. Then you could head over to the Boardwalk after dinner - there is Jellyrolls (the dueling piano bar), AbracadaBar (a magician themed lounge), and general Boardwalk merriment.

I would do O'hana at Poly (hit up Trader Sam's beforehand for fun and drinks) if you want to go to one of the monorail resorts. In the EP area, I would consider bluezoo at Dolphin, Kimono's at Swan or Trattoria al Forno at BWI. They have karaoke at the Swan later in the evening and there is entertainment at the boardwalk at night. AbracadaBAR is also a lot of fun for drinks and Ample Hills has fantastic ice cream. At DS, I would go to Raglan Road. Great food and great entertainment. You could also visit AKL and go to Sanaa or Boma.

If it's for a business trip / training - this I think would be a good idea / appropriate.

In the vein of fine, resort, and nothing resembling fine Whispering Canyon, Beaches and Ceeam, and Sanaa come to mine. Another great option would be Hoop Dee Dool. You could even do the FW campfire with chip and dale afterward? Raglan Roas in could also be fun.

I recommend The Wave at Contemporary, Captain's Grille at Yacht Club, ESPN Club at the Boardwalk, and Wolfgang Puck Express at DS.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Can you still sit on the Poly beach and watch fireworks?

I agree if "fun" is what you are looking for with some good food this is your spot.

Sanaa, The Wave, and Kona are my favourites. If you do Sanaa you get the bonus of seeing animals!
