We want to make a reservation next year for Sun-Sat using points. We are thinking of arriving on Sat (rather than Sun) but staying the first night at a moderate rather than use the points needed for a Saturday stay. My question is: how will this effect our purchasing theme park tickets for the entire week? Do we buy 8 days with our 1 night cash res. the day we arrive?

My advice would be to go to www.mousesavers.com and sign up for their newsletter. In it is a link for Undercover Tourist. Using this link will give you a bigger discount than going directly through Undercover Tourist's site. Buy the tickets you need and keep them separate from your reservations.

I ordered from them last week and had the tickets in two days.

We have been going to Disney for the last 7 years and I never thought to purchase the tickets separate.
Thanks for all the info.!

Thanks for this tip! I knew about Undercover Tourist but not that you could get a discount with the newsletter. A slightly OT question ... if I get discount tickets (we're planning on getting 10-day, expiring tickets since we're planning on doing 10 park days in 14 days next year) do you pay the "bridge" price to go up to hopper tickets if we decide to add the hopper option when we get there? Or do you just pay the straight price for adding a hopper option? Would I be better off just buying the hopper in advance? WP + more is just a straight add on if we decide we want to DisneyQuest while we're there right?

When doing any upgrade, as long as you have used the tickets at least once, you will pay the difference between the current gate price of the ticket you want and the current gate price of the ticket you are upgrading.

Adding hopping to any length ticket (except a 1 day) is about $55, same with adding WP+more.

Thanks! That's what I thought. At DLR they charge you the price from whatever you paid (the price listed on your ticket) to whatever the gate price of the upgrade is, so its nice that its not quite the same racket at WDW. ;)
I have to upgrade the ticket at the gate of one of the parks or is it possible to do that at any of the resorts?
