Resort res date change policy

Hi, if you make a fairly advanced hotel res, no package just room, how many days before check in can you change the dates without penalty? Of course it depends on availability, but just looking for general info.

For room-only reservations, beginning January 1, 2025, guests must cancel at least eight days before the arrival date to receive a full refund with no penalty, an increase from the current five-day notice.

You are able to make room only date changes as often as you want there is not restriction on changes. Only the 8 day cut off for cancellations

8 days is for an outright cancellation. If you are simply modifying dates, you can do that up until you physically check into the resort.

Just to add … “modifying” depends on availability for the new dates. If you want to shorten a reservation, you may get pushback and need to escalate the request because frontline reservation CMs aren’t usually able to do it.

I just tried to modify an August trip, I wanted to add a day. Couldn't even do that.

Yes, it can be difficult. Especially if booked under any kind of promotion, expect you may lose the promo or have to make a separate reservation for the additional day(s) without the promo.
