Do you guys consider these a good deal? I like sodas... but then I'm wondering if I'm eating a park I'd just have to wait until later in the night to drink a soda... is that weird? I mean we aren't going to be at the resort a lot and you can only fill it up at the resort.

That's correct...we usually buy them only when we know we have built in a lot of pool time.

Although you can also use them for coffee and tea, so depending on your hot beverage habits, that might make them worth getting.

we had sodas when we returned for a brief rest before going to a water park or to another park. At night we always had some more with either snacks or supper.......yes I do think we got our moneys worth.

We do think they are a good value, since drinks average $2.00 each if you drink more than 6 drinks at your resort then it pays for itself, plus you have a little suveniour from your trip.
We usually have a couple fills in the morning with breakfast, several when we return in the afternoon for a break between parks and fill again when we get back at night.
Gosh I guess we pay for ours in 2 days or so.

Really only worth it if you put souvenir value on the mugs I do. For the price of the mugs you could buy several cases of soda. Moderate and Deluxe resorts have coffee makers and refrigerators in the rooms. The Hess stations sell coke products at a great price.

I think it all depends on your resort and how much time you'll be spending it...either eating or at the pool. If you stay at a resort without a food court, it can be hard to justify since it's hard to find a spot to refill. But, when we stay at either a value or moderate resort, we eat at the food courts a lot and then get soda refills for the pool. When we are at DVC villas we mostly use the refill option at the pool, but I tend to forget my mug in the room most of the time!!! We like them as souveniers mostly.

We use them in the morning and evening. Usually we park hop in the afternoon and go back to the room for a little while and get something then as well. I agree with the above poster.....I love them for sovenirs as well. Pop Century's were pretty ugly last year, hopefully they changed them this year, does anyone know?? I wish they would put Mickey on them!!!

Does anyone know if anything like Iced Tea, Loganberry or Hawaiian Punch are on "tap" with the cola's for the refillables? My dd will not drink any carbonated beverage to save her life and I so wanted to do the mugs to save some money. Any help would be appreciated! TIA! :wizard:

Whether it's worth the $ depends on the person.

Morning Coffee (1-2 cups), 1 drink during PM park break, and 1 drink upon evening park return for me. For an 8 day trip, that's a lot of drinks. :drinking1

PS! Wow! I actually responded to a mug thread. I'm outta here before the debate begins. :moped:

I do seem to recall lemonade light and maybe powerade on tap. It also seems like I saw some kind of red punch.

Wonderful! I truly appreciate your response!! Thank you!!

Have a great day!

What do the Pop Century mugs look like? Does anyone have a photo, or a link to a photo? I found one site with pictures of mugs from the other Value resorts, but not Pop Century.

Also, I can find menus for POP but they dont' show the price for coffee or tea, just Espresso or Cappuccino. :confused3 Can you use the mug for Cappuccino?

The Pop mugs have the Pop star icon with "Disney's Pop Century" and words like cool, groovy, smile, etc. One Mickey face! The handles and lids were orange, purple or red. Those were last year's design so they may have changed them since.

When we stayed at a resort without a fridge for 7 or 8 days then, yes, they were a good deal. For a trip of that length, in the hot summer, we ate several quick meals at the resort and spent quite a bit of time in the pool. So we used the mugs a lot.

We just came back from a 5 day trip at the CR. We did not buy the mugs because we ate all meals in the parks or at full service rest. We, also, had a fridge in the room to keep drinks cold for our pool visits.

So to me it depends on the kind of trip that you are planning.

I'll be getting one, and since I'll probably have a soda evry morning and night, it will more then pay for itself. :flower:

We always wait to see how close our room is to the food court. I don't want a 5 min walk to get something to drink.

We did buy them this trip, because we were so close to the food court, but actually ended up with some bottles in the room. I got rather sick of fountain drinks, and preferred the bottles.

We got our $$ worth, but it took effort, rather than being convenient. We only ate in the food court three times in 9 days, and we were on the food plan, so drinks were incl. We would fill our mugs w/ our meals, and get bottles of milk, soda, on our meal plan to take to the room for later.

I prefer having a cooler full of drinks in the room. Just my 2 cents, but the $50 in mug cost, for our family of four, would have bought more than enough soda at the supermarket.

If we bought mugs or not was dependent on our length of stay, time of the year, etc.
DH I think always bought one. Sometimes I did not bother with it. If I had one I felt like I "had" to go get something to drink just to justify the cost.
We spent most of our time in the parks, away from the resort.

I do think the mugs are worth the money because you can always take the home and use them in the summer to put cold drinks in and very good for at the pool. :umbrella:

I always buy the refillable mugs-I am a big tea drinker. No matter what the temp is outside. Last time at CBR I would get a tea with breakfast, another in the afternoon, another one at supper if we ate at the resort and a late night wind town tea. The mug more then payed for itself. I loved being able to just stroll over to the drink station and fill up.

I like the Mugs since i use them all the time at home and they remind me of my trip.

****JOKE upcoming******* The are a great value since you can bring them back on your future trips and reuse them *******JOKE******
