This summer we have a 7 night stay at BWV followed by 3 nights at the Poly, both DVC.

1) If we purchase a "resort refillable mug" at BWV, will it still be good for use at the Poly?
2) You can purchase the refillable mugs with a DVC stay correct? I guess I should have asked that in the first place. (this is our first DVC stay)

Thanks in advance.

Dan

The mugs are now good for something like 14 calendar days and anyone that is at the resort can purchase them, you don't have to be a resort guest to do so.

14 days currently. They will also extend this for anyone who has a longer onsite continuous stay, even when a split stay.

In your case, it won’t be an issue as all

This is great information thank you for posting! I have a split stay coming up and was wondering the same thing.

How do the refillable mugs work right now? I remember in the past I’d just place my cup with the sensor beneath the soda machine and it’d read the computer chip and refill. I can’t imagine they are doing it that way now, correct?

In January we brought our mug to the resort QS and they gave us the drink in a disposable cup.

Someone recently posted the CM at their resort said a picture of the cup will suffice. Hmmm, I don’t know about that aspect or if such a thing could continue.

Ok, so you get the mug just as a “proof of purchase” but they give you a refill in the form of a disposable cup whenever you ask. Is that correct?

Correct. Some resorts are allowing you to show the picture and some require you to have the mug with you.

Yep. Exactly that.
They prepared all the drinks for us. We had sodas, coffee, and hot chocolates.

They have been letting guests get thier own refills actually in thier mugs at Blizzard Beach. My guess is that is a rest and if it works well, they will probably move to a similar system at the resorts.

Someone told me that it also doesn't matter which resort you buy the refillable mug at, it's good at all resorts for 14 days. For instance, if I'm staying at BCV, but go over to Ale and Compass Marketplace the first night for dinner (because they have a better selection than BCMarketplace), I can buy my resort refillable mug there. Then, on my MK day, I go to Poly's Captain Cook's or the counter-serve at Contemporary or GF for lunch- I can use my refillable mug at any of them. I hope that's all true.

Sure is! They work at all the resorts!

Yep and if you get the metal upgraded ones they keep your drink cooler longer and are a bit larger.

It was fun one time when we were out.of.points and staying at All Star Sports and using the Skyliner mug from Boardwalk Villa

So we were just at BCV for Easter and bought the mugs. The CM at the register, who was also the manager, told us we could just take a photo of the receipt and present that at BCV and other resorts if we didn't want to carry the mugs around. We did that and never had one issue. Even if you have your mug with you, they give you your drink in a paper cup (which also has a lid and straw). Simply showing the picture of the receipt was much easier than taking the mugs with us everywhere we went.

it was definitely nice. I wish they could find a way to activate an older mug, even if it’s the same price.

I just don’t want a new one. But then again, I can just throw away.

Of course, they are back to self service now so mugs will be required.

Hahaha...we are the same way. We can't seem to throw away the cups/mugs we don't want. Our cabinets are overfilled! On this last trip I made my kids and wife promise that for every new mug/tervis they bought we would get rid of one when we got home. It would be nice to use the old ones on future trips.

On a side note, is it just me or is the coffee at the resorts really good? I am in hotels 100+ nights per year for my job and I have gotten used to hotels (even "premium" Hilton hotels) having subpar coffee. I usually buy coffee now outside of the hotels, although it helps that I can expense it on my expense report. My wife and I were both shocked when we took our first sip of coffee at BCV! We both commented how good it was. We aren't "coffee snobs" by any stretch, but we know the difference between bad coffee and good coffee. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the morning coffee. Just a random thought...

I like it and actually now buy and drink Joffreys at home. Sitting outside in the morning with a coffee is probably my favorite thing when I am at WDW.

It is such a great way to start my day!

Great, thanks! Next time, when I buy my mug, I'm going to take a picture of my receipt just in case. I usually have my refillable mug with me, in the basket of my ECV, but with my luck there'll be sometime when I don't. I'll take a picture, and keep it in my photos along with the picture of my vaccination card, again-just in case!
