Resort Recommendations for Two Adults

Another vote here for Yacht Club!

I love Poly and Beach Club, but they are very "family friendly" and their lobbies are always swarmed with families checking into 'Ohana and Cape May Cafe. YC typically has conventions going on and it is very quiet throughout the day. Prime location to walk to Epcot and DHS. Yachtsman is also wonderful and is in your lobby! You would also have a nice quiet pool away from Stormalong Bay. BWI has some big fans, but the rooms are very dated compared to YC and BC. It's going to start a refurbishment soon and IDK if that will fall during OP's stay.

GF would be my 2nd vote after YC if OP doesn't want access to Epcot and DHS and prefers access to MK. The lobby is so big that it handles large crowds much better than Poly. It also has some of the best adult dining on property. It's going to be under a lengthy refurbishment and I am not sure if this will negatively affect OP's stay (paths rerouted, Narcoossee's closed, lobby changes, etc).

Without kids I feel like the Moana theming at Poly and Incredibles theming at CR can get lost on travelers. Poly is also going to be a mess with the DVC tower construction. I personally wouldn't want to stay on the cash side until the tower was completed. More than half the non-club level rooms will be on top of the construction site. Only Rarotonga, Niue, and Samoa are on the other side. Utilities are already mapped out and Luau Cove is currently being demolished.

Yes I heard about the Poly getting the new DVC tower. We will be there in December in a studio. Luau Cove is clear on the other side so I hope it won’t be to bad .

I will miss Luau Cove! I think you should be ok on the DVC side. Tikiman reported the TTC sign is down and that "changes are coming," but I can't imagine Pago Pago, Moorea, or Tokelau will being anything like Fiji or Aotearoa. Fiji and Aotearoa will have rooms directly across from the new project. Hopefully Poly takes some of those rooms out of service.

My wife and I stayed at the Board a few years ago. We felt that it was geared toward adults.

Yacht Club. Two adults here and we have found that to be our favorite resort. Has a quieter, more adult vibe to us. Walking distance to two parks. A lot to do and see in the area. The rooms are fresh and updated.

So many great restaurants and lounges just a stones throw away. We enjoyed visiting the S&D resorts, Boardwalk Inn, and Beach Club. Being able to walk to Epcot and step right into a World Showcase is absolutely priceless. You can take the skyliner to Riviera and enjoy the restaurant options and ambience there, which seems like another great pick for two adults.

While the Boardwalk area is wonderful, we prefer to view it from our balcony as opposed to staying in the middle of it. It can get loud and busy in the evenings. Being on the other side of the lake meant we can enjoy the spectacular view while being slightly removed from it when we needed some peace and quiet. That was just our experience though. YMMV.

We have enjoyed every Disney resort we have stayed in this far. But there is something about Yacht Club that keeps us coming back.

You are wrong. The new VGF wing is wide open, but you need VGF points or someone on the phone in mid-May to book it.

RIV will open when they declare, which could happen at any point but I think has to happen in summer.

The new VGF studios are much improved. I’ve watched a lot of videos on Poly and GF, GF seems a little lacking in exterior character between buildings, Poly seems to have more character. Reading more though I’m concerned Poly may be in full on construction mode on the cash side where I’m currently booked.

I’ve never done a DVC rental but it does seem like a good way to go IF I can get one.

Seems to be a lot of recs for beach club/yacht club but their pricing is coming in higher than my current Poly reservation so I’m kind of hesitant to go with those.

Planning this trip really takes a lot of research!

Well, personally I normally would always choose BWI....best walking distance to both EP and HS. Beach Club may have rooms closer to EP, but further from HS. I also prefer the theme of BWI, though none of the EP resorts compare to theming of Poly IMO. If MK is your thing then again my favorite of the 3 resorts (Poly, CR, or GF) would be Poly and technically now you can walk from there to MK...albeit a good hike. And, overall too, to be honest, I much prefer the food options of the monorail resorts to the EP resorts, if that's any consideration. Just my 2 cents. Have a great time!

I have loved every Poly trip I have ever taken. I just wouldn't want you to lose that character for construction vehicles. What time period are you traveling? You can follow the project and see what's actually happening and try to switch before departure if it's too much.

Also what type of Poly room do you have booked that is less than YC/BC? Standard view? If so I would request Rarotonga. Hopefully it's shielded from most of the construction on the other side.

Epcot is great for adults. DH and I love wandering around the lands in the evenings. And HS probably has the best “adult” rides. Plus in September a great pool is a wonderful option to have if the heat is still oppressive. For all those reasons I think YC makes the most sense.

I agree with others that have said first you have to decide what park(s) you want to visit more often. Remember, with hoppers you can't hop until 2pm. so if Epcot and HS are where are going to spend the most time, pick one of those resorts. If MK is where you are going to spend at least most mornings, pick one of those. I wouldn't discount WL either if MK is your thing, it's just a boat ride away. Keep in mind, the only way to get to Epcot from the monorail resorts is either the monorail or walk over to MK and hop on a bus there. Monorail is fine but not really my thing, it actually takes less time to take a bus and don't break down as often as the monorail.

Personally, we always stay at the Epcot resorts. I've stayed at all of them except the new Swan Reserve. Each has it's own little perks and advantages and you really can't go wrong. Like others, I prefer YC but tend to stay in whichever one is less, which lately has been Swan/Dolphin.

We have stayed at all three monorail resorts and for adults, GF is our choice. CR is just too contemporary for me, Poly is great if you have kids but it can be loud and a bit crowded with families.

As far as RIV and the skyliner. Keep in mind if there is a thunder storm or high winds, they will shut it down. You don't normally know it's shut down until you arrive there. If you are at Epcot and have exited the WS gate to get to it and it's shut down, your options are to go back through Epcot and catch a bus or walk (or boat) over to HS and catch a bus there.

Good point on heat, we have never stayed at the Poly and the theming seems to feel really Disney more than some of the others I was considering. I’m afraid, for similar money, the Contemporary will feel like any other hotel. Also think I would like to avoid Swan and Dolphin for the same reasons despite some recommendations above.


Agree on the $200/day. Contemporary is actually now about $100/day cheaper than Poly would be.

I’m just not sure what parks will be our primary, we have hopper tickets but we haven’t been there in so long I don’t know what parks we will enjoy most as adults. Seems that I see EPCOT recommended a lot for adults.

Don’t forget to make your park reservations.

Do you find GF to be a little bland on theming?

RIV seems great and does look very adult but looks like an upscale hotel almost anywhere. Can see some advantages to the skyline but hadn't thought of wind/storms, thanks!

Thanks, I have some flexibility between the last two weeks of September for what week I pick so I'm waiting until I have made my final decision on resort before I book!

That makes sense! YC/BC should have garden/woods (cheaper) and standard (cheapest) open up closer to your trip. Blocks are held for conventions and then released when they don't fill.

I would personally request Rarotonga (circled in yellow) because it should be far away from all the construction (circled in red) and offers all standard view rooms. You can get to the Great Ceremonial house in just seconds which is also great if it's raining. You're also on the side of the walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center which is how you would transfer to Epcot. Niue is connected to Rarotonga and also offers standard view rooms, but it's much smaller and has less floors. Samoa also offers standard view rooms on the right side of the resort, but it's highly requested because of it's proximity to the pool and can be loud IMO.

We stayed in Rarotonga several years ago. It’s a great location. Close to the main building, the buses, monorail, the pool, and laundry room.

Looking for resort recommendations for a 7 night visit for two adults with no kids for September. What’s important to us is some quick or at least easy access to some parks, my wife doesn’t love the busses so where we can avoid that or minimize it would be best. Walking distance to a park or parks is a plus. Right now I have standard Poly booked but also considering a studio at BWI or garden room at Contemporary which are available, all close in price so that’s not really a factor. I like the idea of some restaurants and adult beverages nearby at BWI. Just a little lost and open to any other resorts as well, surprising her with the trip so want to make it the best I can!

You are correct wanting BW. Enjoy! Lots of options within a close walk… plus the nightlife entertainment. 10 out of 10
