Resort pools in December- do you use them?

We have never been to Disney in December and have a trip booked this year! Obviously there is no way to predict temperature and it can vary from day to day. We are wondering how many of you who have been in December have used resort pools?

We are from CT and have used the pools in Dec. It was a chilly walking back to the room but the kids loved the swim time.
We wore fleeces and sweatshirts in the AM and were in shorts and ts by noon.
I think it depends on what area of the country you are from if you think it is swim weather!

Yep, that's it right there. Depends on what you're used to. We used the pool in January, but our December '10 trip was legitimately cold- no way!

As long as it's at least 40, my son and I are swimming. My wife, not so much.

Temps in December can vary A LOT!!!!:)

I have been some years with lows in the 30s and some years with highs in the 70s.:)

It varies year by year with the temps, but since the pools are heated we usually swim!

It varies depending on four things:
1) Orlando weather
2) Your tolerance for swimming when the air temp is cool
3) How much you love the pool
4) Your schedule

We have gone in December several times and my youngest (who loves water and lives in Illinois) has spent time in the pool each time. Sometimes it was plenty warm while others not so much - even on the same trip. If the pool is something you really want to do, make sure you have some flex in your schedule so you can try to get to the pool on the warmest / sunniest day of your trip. If you are in Florida in December for a week, there is a good chance that at least one day will be "warm enough" to enjoy the pool. But if that is the day you planned to be at the parks from sun up to sun down, you might not get another nice day.

We have only been to WDW twice in December but both times were able to take advantage of the pools. You must know that I am from Michigan so swimming in 70 degree weather in a pool that is 82 degrees is just fine with me. We were in the pools when the temps were in the 60's but the sun was shining and it felt great.

We're from Georgia. It's never been warm enough for us to swim on our Nov-Feb trips! On our last November trip, it was warm one day, but we were still very comfortable in jeans - didn't break a sweat. So even though it was very sunny and warm and we thought about trying to swim, we never got hot enough to go in the water.

Take your bathing suits and decide if you want to swim depending on how it feels to you when you are there:)
I went swimming once during our December trips--I was determined to use the slide at Stormalong Bay. It did get to 80 one day, so that was my day! My guess is that if you have kids who like to swim, they'll probably want to go at least one day.

I've been to WDW in early Dec every year since 2003. Last year was the first year I didn't go but heading back next Dec.
Swim? Maybe. I'm from Mass, so 55 is almost warm to me. But, while swimming is ok, it can be brutal when you get out of that pool!!!

Being in the pool was fine in December 2012, but getting out was not. It was cold. Grab your towel and head back to the room cold. There was no lounging around the pool while you were wet even during the day.

We're from NL, so swimming is Dec in Florida is much like swimming home in June - just fine most days! Like PP said, it partly depends upon where you are from and partly depends on the variable Dec weather in Florida.

Take warm cover ups and stay in the water, go on a warmer day and you can have lots of fun swimming in Dec. Pools can be a lot less crowded, too!!!

We live in Florida and wouldn't think of getting in the pool in December! We get cold easily now. BUT, we are originally from Ohio and we probably would have back then. It's all relative I guess.

We've often found that the temperatures are very nice in December and would be good for spending time in the pools. We always intend to spend time there but we are out all day at the parks and then it's too cold in the evening. So we've never managed it but you can luck out and get good weather for swimming.

We have been there for2 weeks 6 of the last 7 Decembers. Not only have we used the pool Every trip, but we go to Blizzard Beach well. Couple of the trips have seen temps in the 90's. We were also there for the record cold snap in 2010 which saw temps as low as 26. Even that trip saw one day where the temp shot up to 85 and we went to BB that day.

We use the pool every trip and we always go in December, we even use them at night after the sun goes down. Our first trip was over Xmas in 92, we went to TL twice and I was in the pool at the BC until it closed at midnight every night.

We only live 2 1/2 hrs north of wdw and depending on the temps there really isn't a month we don't swim. For us the traditional winter months are so bipolar here so we pack sweatshirts and bathing suits. The biggest difference for us is that we're more likely to only swim in the middle of the afternoon rather than at night after leaving the parks.

We were there the first week of December last year. Weather was beautiful for Wed/Thurs, and my family went swimming at SAB at Beach Club.

We spent 10 days at Disney at the end of December last year. Only one day was too cold for swimming. But once the sun goes down, it can get pretty chilly quickly.
