Resort pool question

We are staying at POR with the little ones. Our older married children are staying value. Will there be a problem with them coming to POR and swimming and just hanging out with us. i hope not I would love for us to all have a great vacation and their budget just wont allow POR.

The value resorts have great pools, better than POR, they will be disappointed in your pool.

Oh I was kinda excited about a pool with a slide. I guess we will have to check out their pool as well.

Don't ask here. Most will tell you that pool hopping is not allowed and some will tell you you are rude for even asking. Instead, speak with the manager of your resort when you arrive. Explain the sitution and ask if they will allow your family to visit you. Disney is the only one who can answer your question.

Ultimately, the life guard has the final say whether or not non-resort guests can swim at the pool and visit with resort guests. There are signs at each pool that states that they are for the exclusive use of the guests of that resort. Have you thought about meeting at a water park?

I guess I'm sorry for asking. I was not even thinking about it being pool hopping.They would be with us a paying guest of that resort. Are you not allowed to have guests visit at your resort.
I was seeing it as family. When we stayed at FWC I had family come to visit us who lived on FL. All cleared by FW. They were allowed to park up front and come to our camper, go swimming with us ect. I kind of thought it would be the same way.

They will be spending all their time with us except sleeping. We are touring the parks, and dining together. Our schedules will be the same. Thats why I thought they could come and visit us for the afternoon break and down times. I guess it may not be possible.

Do you think you could pay the difference between the value to the moderate, shouldn't be that much or even just for a few days so you all will be together.

Can you imagine how full Storm Along Bay would be if people staying at the hotel were all allowed guests? Or the volcano pool at the Poly? The more money you spend on your resort, the nicer the pool. And I disagree, the pool at POR is much nicer than any value pool. There is more theming, plus a slide and a hot tub.

Have you considered changing your stay so that you could all be together? If someone can't afford POR, why not have everyone stay at the same value resort? It would make your trip much easier, especially if you plan on spending all of your time together.

Unfortunately, if every guest wanted to have non-resort guests visit them at the pool, it could be very crowded and cause problems for the guests who paid to stay there. You are entitled to have guests visit you at your resort; however, they may not use any of the facilities except for those that they would have to pay for - dining, shopping, spa, etc.

I would just ask the manager when you checked in if it were possible for the other party to swim with you,or maybe you could go to their hotel.

As has been pointed out, it is not up to the manager. The pool deck and everyone on it answer to the lifeguards.

I like this idea! I would do this for my kids if they would allow me. This is what I would do so that everyone could be together and save time on catching up with one another.

First of all, don't worry about the curt replies you are going to get. Pool-hopping question just set people off on the DIS.

Second, yes, they can come hang out with you. They can tour the resort, eat in the restaurants, shop in the shops, etc. The only thing that might be a problem is swimming in the pool itself. As others have said, it's not allowed. However, you can always ask. As long as thing aren't too crowded, there's a decent chance they will be told it's OK.

I would assume that the lifeguards report in some chain of command eventually to the manager of the hotel. I'm sure the manager might check with the lifeguards, but the manager would be an appropriate person to ask.

I have been told by a life guard at Storm Along Bay that they have been overruled by the hotel manager many times. This was when we asked him if our niece could use a life vest on the slide. He said you are not supposed to. Just then two children came down one after the other and had life vest on. I point those children out and he said he wasn't going to stop them or my niece if they wore a life vest because the hotel manager had told him to allow it. He said it happens all the time.
