O.K I always assumed this was a big no-no and not really even possible. Yet I have seen a couple of threads, in the budget forums that are suggesting this? What gives?
Once upon a time it was not only allowed, but encouraged! Disney got many a return guest by allowing them to check out a resort, including the pool on a previous visit! However, with all the newer resorts, some of which with fantastic pools, the crowds need to be controlled! You can still check out the pool area and resorts, but swimming is considered a no-no. The rules do not stop everyone, however.
we did it. last year we stayed at pop and on our last day, made the several bus transfers to wilderness lodge. the kids swam in the pool and i bought a few snacks at the bar. took pics in the lobby. no one said anything. of course that was march of last year...
Even as DVC members we are not allowed to "pool hop" to SAB or the pool at AKL/AKV.....but it is a nice perk if you have a relaxing day scheduled and want to enjoy another resort. Have not done it yet...
However, this is HIGHLY frowned upon....as it is against the rules...and not a great topic to discuss here on the DIS
If you have DVC can you only pool hop to other DVC resorts - or can you pool hop to all pools. For example POFQ is not a DVC resort but if you are staying at a DVC can you hop there?
