Resort Parking for Guests

Add parents and they'll get a magic band. Link everything up and they can use it for their tickets and later stay at BLT. The only potential issue is charging. Trust your parent, cover their charges or don't share the room charge PIN number. They might sleep offsite some nights they're registered at BCV. Not an issue. One band for their entire trip.

Charging on the bands is not a problem. Each room can have multiple people all with a different credit card attached only to their name. You can set that up at the desk. I've done it before. Not sure if you can set up the CC before hand in MDE.

I asked this exact question to a cm on phone and was told my parents couldnt park at our resort or use the pools unless we added them to the room. And since we have a package they cant be added without also paying for 5 day tickets for them, even though they simply want to visit and go to one park with us. Very frustrating....

Partially correct. Yes, they have to be on the room to use the pool. However, you can have visitors come see you and park at your resort. On odd occasions they will have to pay for Valet. But a blanket statement of they have to be on the room in order to park at the resort is not correct.

Partially correct. You can add them to your room after you check in and they do NOT have to have the same tickets as you. If you add them before you check in, then yes they have to have the same tickets as you.

I stay primarily DVC. My ds lives in Tampa. He drives over fairly often, and visits me. He parks in the lot with no issue. Same for my dd...lives in Orlando now. I would make sure your parents have your room number. Then when they get to the guard shack, they can give your name, and room number. That's what my kids do, and have had no issues whatsoever.
If you want your parents to go to the parks with you and you will be doing FPs, I would just add them to the reservation now. Of course, they would have to have MDE and link them with yours. But, it's doable.
But if you don't care about FPs, they can just park at the resort with no issues. Those that are staying at a resort are allowed to have visitors. It's the people that just want to drive to a resort and park there for the day, for park access, that are the issue.

If you aren't over room capacity, simply add them when you check-in at the resort. You won't have to purchase package components for them (tickets and dining) if you do this. You will have to pay extra adult fees though. You don't even have to add them for the whole stay. If they are only visiting for one or two days, just add them for those dates. It has to be done at check-in, at the resort, however.

OP already said they are staying in a DVC villa. There is no charge for extra adult fees.

I would be overwhelmed with trying to coordinate them getting there before getting on the bus.....I would skip all the hassle and meet them there...just so if anybody is running late, nobody is wasting time waiting....

I have the opposite opinion. Meeting for breakfast, either in their unit or in a restaurant, sounds a lot better then meeting someplace in a park.

lol. Our first day together, we will be going to Hollywood Studios and have a pre-park opening breakfast. I am currently in possession of their tickets (cards) and will be in possession of their Magic Bands, as they are on our reservation (later at BLT). I am concerned about them finding their way to us.

You probably travel with people who like to be on time :)

I was just thinking that adding a leg of travel to a pretty straightforward trip from their hotel to the park makes it more complicated :) In my situation, if anybody was running late, and we were meeting at the park, the lateness wouldn't be exacerbated by having to take (and wait for) another bus....and I would be a stressed out person....

also, I wouldn't even think about wasting morning time during the parks being open on anything leisurely :)

You are wrong. I am obviously asking what the rules are, so that I can follow them.

Nope adding them to the room without them staying there to be able to park at the resort is trying to get around WDW rules so yes I am correct. Resort parking is for guest STAYING at the resort or that are there for dining not to park there for the day and go to a park. Try to justify it any way you want you are trying to get around WDW rules.

Resort parking is for registered guests. Once they're on the reservation, they are registered guests.

Bottom line is they are within capacity, they've paid for the room, they can choose how to allocate how they use the room as long as they are not over capacity. :clown:

The person you were replying to was replying to Jasten, who isn't the OP. :)

TowMater92, once they are added to the room they are resort guests. Doesn't matter what their plans are. Disney doesn't care where you sleep. You could have your room booked, go to the parks the first day, meet old friends that live 20 minutes away and invite you to stay there. You still have your room at the resort, you're still a resort guest, even if you choose to spend some nights with your old friends. This is the same situation once they add their parents on, only the offsite stay is already planned.
