Resort Parking Fees for AP Holders?

So we've got a stay planned for a week at AoA in May, and I know the new parking fees will apply. We have a Gold AP, which means that we of course get free parking at the parks. Wouldn't it make sense that we get free parking at our resort, too? Does anyone know if this is the case?

Yeah between the parking charge and giving on site perks to the Disney Springs hotels it makes staying on site much harder to justify now. We can get a huge 2 room suite, free breakfast, free cocktails at the Embassy Suites for $150-$160 per night and it's only 3 miles off property. Hard not to pick that over say Pop Century for the same price anymore.

It's a shame, I generally love staying on site.

It would make sense if you had an Annual Resort Pass, but I've never heard of that. ;)

Seriously, your AP is for the parks. Its got nothing to do with the resorts (other than an occasional discount there).

Except that I bet many AP holders are local, and since locals aren't going to fly in and take the Magical Express, it seems extra silly to charge them for parking. And since they can park at the parks for free, I'd imagine it would make staying offsite a lot more enticing to AP holders. But I guess Disney doesn't care?

Although I'm local now, I was an AP holder for many, many years even though I lived in MA. Know a lot of AP holders that aren't local.

Well Tim Tracker has a thread up on Twitter saying he was not charged while staying at All Stars. Someone in the replies says they called and a CM told them AP holders don't pay for the rest of 2018. Can anyone confirm this?

I do not believe the Embassy Suites is one of the DS hotels that are getting the FP and EMH perks. DoubleTree is though.

Make sense? Absolutely. Implied in their Passholder marketing? Absolutely. Here is a blurb from a recent email I received, as a Passholder, promoting resort stays:

And when you stay with us in the middle of the magic, you can use your pass to come and go between your Resort and the Parks at your own pace! You'll even be closer to restaurants and shops that may offer Passholder discounts as well.
You'll also be able to take advantage of an array of benefits, including:
Extra time in a Theme Park each day to enjoy select attractions (with valid Theme Park admission and Resort ID)!
Complimentary transportation and parking throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
Fun-filled activities for everyone.
Discounts on dining at select restaurants.

"throughout Walt Disney World Resort" ... I know that my definition would include the hotel parking lot. Information about parking fees on WDW website differs. Haven't stayed with a post 3/21 reservation, and probably won't soon because of new lowered room safety policies, but what Passholder marketing implies seems to be going against what is posted elsewhere.

Agreed I'd read that the same way. Aside from the AP free parking though it just seems silly to say it's a perk to stay onsite because you get free parking at the parks but have to pay every single night at your resort anyhow. Pretty much cancels that perk out completely.
