Resort over booked????

DO resorts over book? I worry because we moved our Jan reservation to the 9/30-10-06.. and could only get a standard view at akl.. and that was 1 week ago and now they are sold out. SInce we booked last minute I'm worry about them over booking.. am I nuts?? Tiffany

I think they do overbook standard rooms sometimes.
On the bright side, if they've overbooked standards you MAY get a free upgrade to pool view!

Umm.. well i was going to ty to upgade to any type of view except fo standad and tey were all booked! Let's hope we will be ok..

Keep in mind, only one night of any given period needs to be fully booked for the entire week (for example) to come up as unavailable. If you're checking online, you could try checking each individual night. If your first night shows no availability, yes, there might be a problem. If it's your third night that's showing nothing available, that won't affect you or your reservation.

This post made me check for our quick trip in November and the 1st night of our trip now shows as no availability while the others are okay! Given that I was able to get an AP rate just a week ago for it leads me to believe that "no availability" means they just aren't selling them online anymore. I'm also guessing that rooms are allocated to package sellers so if those aren't sold, there are extra rooms around.

Yes, they do over book, and its possible you may get a less desirable room. This past summer I booked a Boardwalk Inn standard view for 5. What I got was a Boardwalk Villas studio standard view, and they delivered an aerobed for the 5th person, after I returned to check-in when I realized there was only bedding for 4 in the room I was assigned The manager insisted the daybed in an Inn room was only 40 inches and wouldn't serve our purposes anyway I don't believe this is true from what I've read, but then I've never brought a tape measure on vacation. It seemed everyone checking in was needing to speak to a manager so I accepted the room and we made due. I will certainly ask more details on bedding for 5 when I book a room in the future.

It is true. We had a standard room at BWI in July, we put our 2 carry-on suitcases (both 20") on the daybed and there was no more room for anything else. The mattress - if you can call it that - is very very thin.
A small child could possibly sleep on it but not comfortably IMO.
It's more like a bench with a little bit of padding than a daybed.
