We haven't been to Disney in about 4 years... Can you tell me what they look like? We each like to get one in my family! Its a tradition... I heard they have new rules now with the mugs... We are staying at Carribean and All Star Music.. Do these resorts have different mugs? Will we have to buy another mug and the 2nd stop we make at Carribean?

They are beach themed and come in 3 colors from what I've seen. Colors are Fusia pink, Teal and black. THe mug design is same property wide with expection of Corondo Springs having own design I believe. If you have dining plan there is a mug included for each person enrolled in dining plan. The "rules" are mug is good for length of stay ( take that how you wish) There was a test going on at All Star Sports with RFID Chips, but that is over now.

I used my resort mug (bought at Animal Kingdom Logde Jambo House) at the Wilderness Lodge in December of 2010. I didn't know that you were not supposed to use them at different resorts, but no one said or did anything to stop us. :scratchin

Now that we know the rules, we'll either ask or just follow the rule.

We stayed at CBR. The resort mugs are different from resort to resort and are only supposed to be used during that visit. But you do see people with the old school mugs filling up. They really don't enforce the mugs situation. Also the price goes up every year we go. We just ordered soda from Garden Grocer. We found it to be cheaper with all the groceries we purchased.

This used to be true, but not in the last few years. The only resort who's mug is different is All Star Sports. They're trying out a new mug with a microchip. Unless this has changed since Jan.

I just read above me... looks like the micro chip mugs are done. I wasn't aware that CSR had their own mug, but that's the only resort we haven't been to in recent years!

There is a very long and detailed thread devoted to refillable mug questions on the resorts board. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447967

  • The mugs are all the same, even at CSR.
  • There are no longer microchipped mugs at ASSp.
  • The mugs are good during your resort stay. If you change resorts, the mugs (theoretically) should not be used at the second resort.
  • The mugs come in 3 colors -teal, fuschia and black.

Thanks so much for the pictures Marionette! DH and I are going in September and I haven't been since February 2011- I think they were starting to change the mugs over at that time (they were the red ones). I'm interested to see what they're going to be in Sept (if not the same as those pictured).

I'm excited that the dining plan now includes the mug- we always just used to buy it on our own. I like collecting them over the years so we don't mind the one per stay rule, but I liked it when they were resort specific. I do sneer at the people coming to POR with their Dixie Landings mugs though :furious:

I bolded
Actually the Original Old Dixie Landings Mugs were not "visit specific" and If I recall correctly (and Im sure someone will correct me if I am mistaken;)) they were touted as use for ever..if one was lucky enough to return. ..at least thats what I think I read on some mug thread ages ago...
and believe it or not, many people actually visited Disney once in their lifetime.....not like the disney addicted here...:rotfl2:, count me in as one of those :rotfl: I grew up on it and continue to go
regardless, I LOVE all my mugs (i had my dinner drink tonight in one :lovestruc) and have been getting them since our very first visit many many many moons ago..........
