I'm brainstorming gift ideas for my mom for Christmas, and came up with the idea that I could treat her to an overnight stay at a resort within a couple hours or so where we live, and make it a nice mother-daughter bonding/shopping outing.

Hoping to find a place somewhere around Amish country (Sugarcreek, Berlin, etc)..

Anyone know of a nice resort-type place to stay at in that area? Preferably one that would have on-site breakfast, maybe a whirlpool to relax in, etc.

Researched some places, including the Inn at Honey Run, etc.. but seem to be on the slightly expensive side.. hoping to stay somewhere around $130-$150 for the night.

My mom and her sister always stay at Comfprt Suites in Berlin. They are both around 72-79. They do serve an extended cont b-fast.

Inn at Honey Run is very nice..if you can swing the extra $$.

The Wooster Inn is listed in the 70s right now..it's not quite in Berlin area...but not far and a nice college town with several night restaurants.

The Carlisle Inn (Walnut Creek) is in a nice central location and Der Dutchman (a great restaurant) is right next door. You might want to stay at a bed and breakfast if you are looking for an included breakfast. There are many in the area. We prefer hotels so I can't offer any recommendations. The Amish Door is a nice place to stay but you would need to drive into Sugarcreek/Berlin. Don't forget to stop at Heini's Cheese! :goodvibes

Hi! I'm from that area and still work there, so I can help you out! Just down the road from Honey Run is a place called The Barn Inn, it's beautiful! Should be less expensive but every bit as nice, I know the owner and she's a great cook, will have cookies and treats in the evening and a great breakfast in the morning, included with the price. Like a PP said, Amish Door is nice too. Rates all over should be less in Jan & Feb, when were you thinking of visiting? Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions on the area, I lived there for over 35 years.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Will definitely google all the ones mentioned, and see how they look, :)

Looking to go either the Tues/Wed between Christmas and New Year's or possibly the Mon/Tues after New Years, depending on how my work schedule looks when it comes out next week.
