Resort Id's needed to board Disney buss?

We are staying on Disney. Do we need to show our resort id's everytime we board the disney buss to go to the parks?

I have never had to show mine, but from what I understand they can ask to see it. Don't know if this has changed since 9/11, or if at busier times it may become an issue.

We were there in November last year and never needed them for buses. We use to in the 80's but haven't since then.

We were there this past April for 2 weeks and never asked to show an ID, not even once.

We have been going for 10+ years, and have never been asked to show ID, but from I understand, they can always ask, whenever they want.

We just got back and did not have to show ours, but you never know.

You can use busses if you have resort ID or any multi-day park pass. Moreover, they seldom request you to show either. Possible exception is bus to AKL. They had a restriction there limiting visitors who were not staying at the resort to those having confirmed reservations at the restaurants, and thus they were checking for resort ID's for busses going there. However, I do not know whether they are still applying that restriction.

According to Corey Sandler, author of some of the Econoguide tour books, WDW sells a transportation only pass (day pass) for about $2.50, 1997 price.

The only purpose in checking ID's is to see that people without hopper passes or other authorization to ride the buses had bought such a pass. Chickenfeed in terms of revenue to WDW.

If you ride the buses without authorization there is nothing useful you can do that did not also benefit WDW (such as patronize restaurants and gift shops, or see advertising in the form of resort decor that makes you want to book a room there on your next visit).

Possible exception is bus to AKL.

I went over there a couple times to look around this past spring, and they didnt ask for anything.....


another exception that couple pop up is trying to ride the resort monorail. I've heard of times when people or turned away from there if they didnt have a card showing they were staying at one of the monorail resorts.... but everytime i went to get on it... I had no trubble
