Please be patient with me (as a newby) ... I have two more questions!! How do you get into the Resort Hotels for the evening entertainment - do you have to be in the Magic Kingdom?

And ... has anyone been to the Polynesian Luau, and is it worthwhile doing?

Hi Nannoo

Ask as many questions as you like :D

If you are driving you can get a 3hr car park pass for the resort hotel's if you are dining there. Then you can go and mooch around.

Are you driving? Where are you staying?

All the hotels are seperate to the theme parks, although I think there are a couple that you have to drive past the MK entrance to get to. Therefore you do not need to have a park ticket to get into them. As Kaylee said just ask for a visitors parking at the gate to the hotel, depending on the hotel you may be restricted to 3 hours.

Thanks for your reply (and to Dimplenose too!). We will have a car - we are doing a Virgin 2-centre holiday, one week in Orlando, one in Sanibel. The hotel we are staying in in Orlando is La Quinta Inn Lakeside (which seems to have very mixed reviews). But we will spend so little time there.

As you have a car you can get the parking pass. I haven't done the Luau - but again I will one day ;) If you do the Luau you could watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach too you will be able to see it at about 9pm :D

Yes, The Electric Water Pageant is a nightly parade on the Seven Seas lagoon for the Magic Kingdom resorts. The Pageant consists of seven barges, each carrying a screen of lights. The individual barges feature King Neptune and sea creatures. The Pageant concludes with Flags and Stars! The finale salutes America when the screens change to the American Flag and Stars, as patriotic music plays.

Hi Nanoo, we were not intending to do the Luau, but we were spending time with friends and they wanted to do it so we went too. We actually really enjoyed it. My DD 9 and DS 4 were transfixed by the floor show and DD got up on stage with the other kids for the Hula 'lesson'. She took it real seriously and the video is great to watch! So although expensive we all had a great night. Drinks are included, but our friends were non-drinkers so we drank very little. The food was different but nice and if you wanted more it just kept coming.
The water pagent is fun to watch too. I think it is at 10pm.

Kaylee, just seen your timings for water pagent. We were at the CR so that's why I thought it was at 10pm. Sorry!

We did the Luau a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The girls are beautiful, and they do some fire twirling acts that the kids really liked. I would suggest getting there plenty early, we were right on time and had to sit in the back, which was a little frustrating. Food was just OK. Hope this helps.
