Resort Hopping worth it?

We are currently planning our next trip. It is going to be during regular season. We are going to go for 7 nights. Also, we have always stayed off site in the past. This will be the 1st on site trip. Of course, we want to try just about every resort there. What I am wondering is if anyone feels that resort hopping is worth it? Also, we are going with the Silver Package. I know we will have to essentially book 2 packages and check in twice. I was thinking (for budget reasons) to stay at a Deluxe for 3 nights and a moderate for 4 nights. For all you resort hoppers, is it a big hassle to pick up mid trip and move?

We did this last Dec. and it wasn't bad at all. When we checked out of ASMu, just called Bell Services to pick up our luggage and send it over to POFQ. Went to EPCOT until early afternoon, then went to POFQ, checked in. Our luggage arrived around 3:30pm to Bell Services and they delivered it to our room.

It was fun to stay at 2 places in one trip and I'll probably do it again in the future!!! :smooth:

If you decide to resort hop then you will end up having an UPH ticket overlap day. In other words, the day you switch resorts, you will have paid for the last day of your UPH ticket and you will have also paid for the first day of your UPH ticket for your second package. And they are on the same day. Just keep that in mind.

We are resort hoppers. We have on all trips in 97 but one.
And I would like to agian on our 04 trip, but it depends on how our DVC points work out (we are treating family and havent found out who is on board yet).

We like the chance to see 2 resorts and we have never had a problem switching resorts. We usually move ourselves, as we always rent a car.
If you are wanting to try a deluxe and moderate, I would suggest the moderate first. Finish the trip in the deluxe.
Have a blast!

Just my opinion..... it is definitely not worth it (at least for us). We found AKL and LOVE it!! I cannot imagine staying elsewhere anymore. Not only that but I don't like the idea of having to pack, move, unpack, wait for a room more than once during my vacation.

We might consider doing that if we went for a week or more without kids.

With kids, and the possibility of someone getting sick or not feeling well, we just don't like the possibility of not having a room for a day when we would switch.

Really, I know there's a lot of wonderful resort choices, but if you really try you can decide on one.

Have to agree with Bob on this one, my sister and family tried the resort hopping recently and on the day of the move, with small children, really wished they had their orginial room to go back to for nap time.

Seems Murphy's Law was in force this particular day, of the move, the kids were at their worst and my sister was really regretting she did not have a room to take them to. She felt they pretty much lost the day they moved and the continuity they had in touring was lost due to packing, moving, unpacking.

Sometimes when you move you might get lucky and get into a room earlier than 3pm but no guarantee on that.
