Resort Hopping ? Which ones? How Many?

We are thinking of resort hopping on our last day at WDW. It's just me and DH. Our flight doesn't leave until 7:30pm (yeah). Which resorts would you recommend we "not miss"? I would love to see them all, but know that's just not possible in one day, so I'd like others opinions on which ones they would visit.

We do this when we go t WDW, too. Its one of our favorite ways to kill an afternoon.

I would drive over to Boardwalk first and do a little exploring. Then take a boat over to Y& BC. Have breakfast at Cape May, perhaps. Explore the Stormalong Bay area. I think you can rent watercraft at YC also. Or you can take a boat over to DTD and go shopping for an hour or two.

Or do the monorail resorts. GF is really relaxing, though tea doesnt start until 2pm, might be too late for you. AKL is really wonderful and the animals are active in the early morning, so you could do breakfast at Boma then head over to some other resort. CSR can't be beat for walking--so beautiful and tropical. Have fun on your trip!

Anyone with similar advice for those of us who will be there during the December holidays?

We were so jam-packed schedule wise last trip, and resort-hopping was something I wish we'd done, so it was one of the first things I scheduled on the itinerary.

Also, any suggestions for a light lunch at one of the resorts that day?

If you're doing a second day at MK then take a break late morning or early afternoon and do the monorail resorts.

Lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe is wonderful. It's such a beautiful hotel especially at Christmas.

Dh and I stayed at the GF on our honeymoon. We enjoyed walking over to the Poly each day along the path past the wedding chapel.

From the Poly we went to the Contemporary resort. It's a nice easy loop. You can use the ferries or monorail too any time along the way.

We enjoyed the views of the lagoon, and I swear we saw countless weddings every day we were there!

We even saw a bride in the cinderella coach at the GF.

Anyone with similar advice for those of us who will be there during the December holidays?

We did this on our 4-day quick trip in December and even our kids found it fun to explore. We stayed at GF which was just incrediblly beautiful for the holidays. What a gingerbread house! We also 'visited' one or two different resorts each morning before going on to our afternoon touring and evening show plans. Saw the Poly and its gingerbread display complete with a replica of the Grand Ceremonial House, Volcano pool, and monorail train set -- ate breakfast at Kona that day. The following morning we took the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge which is also beautiful for the holidays. On Sunday we planned breakfast at the Cape May so we checked out the BC, YC and then walked over to the BWI. What incredible chocolate and gingerbread displays they all had, and of course, each resport had a unique Christmas tree motif!

And I agree with dznyntnh... the GFC was a wonderful choice for lunch or if you can hold off a little longer, try the Garden Tea room at the GF for a light lunch. We did this too and my girls were in heaven!

This past Oct while staying at Wilderness Lodge twice I took the boat to the Contemp, walked to the MK, boat to GF, walked to Poly, monorail back to Contemp, boat back to WL
At the end of the wk during our 2 night stay at Caribbean Beach I walked over to Pop
this Aug DS13 & I are staying at Pop, WL & BCV. While at BCV Im planning on checking out Swan, Dolphin, Beach & Yacht and Boardwalk resorts

We resort hopped last year and really enjoyed it. Definetly go to Wilderness Lodge for the lobby, geyser, and waterfall. Go to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the lobby and to see the animals. Grand Floridian-WOW! very nice you just have to go to believe it. And we really enjoyed the Boardwalk atmosphere
just strolling along out on the boardwalk itself . All the properties were nice and we enjoyed but these were our favorites that we will be revisiting this year for our first WDW Christmas!

What we like to do is have dinner at different resorts and arrive early enough to explore. On our last trip in Dec., we had dinner at each deluxe resort. We have found our favorite restaurants are the ones at the resorts such as Flying Fish, Yachtsman Steakhouse and Jiko.

Thanks everyone! Taking into account all the advice on this board and others, I think we've come up with a workable plan. We will start at CR with breakfast and continue on to WL and the monorail resorts, before heading over to Coronado Springs, the BW, YC, BC, Swan & Dolphin. Was hoping to try GF Cafe, but the timing is off, so we will probably stop by Beaches 'n' Cream, which I've heard such good things about. We are switching from CBR to AKL later in the week and will check out its decorations then.

I was really surprised by how good Beaches and Cream was (not that I expected it to be bad to begin with...) It was just over and above what I had expected for a fast, fun place like that--the Burgers were soooo good and the ice cream sundae was great, too. We had a great time there
