We have always been curious about the AKL & Coronado Springs, but never had the time to deal with the busses in order to visit these resorts. We are heading to WDW next month by car for the first time (having always arrived via the airport/ME) and are staying at the BCV. Are we allowed to park for free at these resorts for 30-60 minutes, while we have a look around/shop?

Thanks for any info!

Yes or even longer. We ate at both Kona in the Poly (with ADR) and we went to AKL just for counter service. Both times we just drove in and told them we were eating there, and they let us right through, no ADR check or anything. No parking pass either, which I thought was strange for the Poly, beng so close to MK. But no real advantage of parking there over TTC if you were going to MK, so I guess not many people try to do it. We ate at Chef Mickey's a couple years ago, and there they look you up for ADR and you get a 3 hour pass (b/c that IS so close to MK).

AKL was fun, we ate and then walked around and checked out the resort and saw the animals!

Have your drivers license handy- we were asked for it a few times and make sure your own resort parking tag is visible. The one time we didn't have it on the dashboard, they asked more questions but that could have just been the guard.

Yes, we drove to a couple of the resorts, just to check them out, or to eat there, and they let us in. There was a security officer (or whatever you want to call them), and we just told him we wanted to look around, and it was no problem getting in, and then we just parked in the parking lot (no charge for parking).

At the Deluxe resorts, they will give you a three-hour parking pass.

But at many of the Mods and Values, they will simply wave you through when they see the Y&BC parking permit on your windshield.

You may get a 3 hour pass, or you may just be allowed to park. At the CR and BW I've gotten passes sometimes and other times haven't needed one.

They just let us park at Boardwalk (2x), Poly (2x) and Wilderness lodge 1x...with no parking pass. We showed our resort parking pass and sometimes a drivers license.

As an aside, we zipped over to Epcot both times from the Boardwalk for about an hour before or after our dinner reservations at Spoodles.

Is parking at the theme parks free when you are a resort guest? Or do you have to pay?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks!! I think we'll be renting a car for our trip, since we have moved to AkL with only bus service.
