Resort Hoppin' with Wigd and Shocker! Contests!

When we got home from Disney I started stalking lots of parts on Ebay. I found some great deals!
That resort mug I found a couple of years ago at Beach Ciub sitting on a trash can. It quickly became MINE, MINE, MINE!
We do understand each other about the Disneyness in our classrooms, no eye-rolling here.

So many last minute preparations happening here for Monday but I have thought of you all often and wondered what was happening when.
I know you are enjoying every precious moment with your family!
I can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures.
Hugs from us!:grouphug:

I know Trent leaves tomorrow then it's another 8 weeks until you see him? Or is my math off by a week...
Saying goodbye is never easy.:sad1::hug:

The potato heads are going to be fun, when the kids make their person I'll take a picture and when we do our slide show at the end of the year they can look back and see everyone's creation!

Mine, mine, mine!
That sounds like Bella these days.

I am enjoying every second of the family being together. I definitely enjoyed having Trent all to myself (Mine, mine, mine!) last night driving home from AL.
I've already been weepy this morning thinking of him leaving again, but I am going to try to just enjoy this day to the fullest and try to hold the tears back until he really leaves this evening. Thoughts of the October trip will help. He told me he has a lot of fun things planned for the next few weekends, so it helps me to know the time will go quickly for him. He's got some things going on with friends down there - birthdays and four-wheeling and grill-outs, etc. That really does help me to know that at least some of his weekends will be filled with fun and not just work until we can be together again.

Your package to Brooklynn was a hit. She just kept opening things and oohing and aahing. Bella loved her baby. I love my Eeyore. Is Tigger supposed to hang out with Eeyore at my house, or was he for the girls? You outdid yourself, as always. We were going to have Brooklynn call you, but she was beside herself with excitement yesterday with everything going on. Maybe she can call you today from the Beach Club. ;)

Your classroom is amazing. I would be in heaven there. So cool that you have incorporated Disney into so many aspects of the classroom. I just saw Toy Story 3 (which was especially emotional for me because I realized that Andy and Brian are practically on the same timeline), so I appreciate all the TS3 stuff, even Lotso (poor misguided bear that he is!)

On another note - your counter looks beautiful. I have been trying to "sell" this idea to Denny with the proviso that we could refinish our old cabinets and replace the sink and tile the back splash. He isn't buying it and I am bummed. I know its going to be hard, but I keep thinking about the potential cost savings and the satisfaction of doing the work myself.

Did you tile the backsplash first? Can you post a before picture (when you get a chance).

Anyway - congrats on a job well done!!!!!!!

Thanks for the DVC info Anita!! You are ever so helpful! I may have more ???? in the future. You and MEK are my gurus! We are watching the timeshare store and contemplating our options. Just what I need, something else to obsess over!

Love that 2nd grade stuff - I'd send Paige down, but I'm sure she'd get too spoiled with you!

What a lucky bunch of students. It looks great!! I adore all the Disney touches. I especially love the Beach Club mug. What a great find!

The kitchen looks awesome too!!

Good luck tomorrow. Happy back to school!! :goodvibes

I love your classroom; you've spent a lot of time making it so inviting! :goodvibes How did you attach the mouse ears to the bulletin board? I'm assuming it wasn't staples... :confused3

Wigd, I just adore your classroom!!! It must make you smile every morning when you walk in and see all the Disney touches!!! Your students are going to be in heaven!!!
Thanks Jackie! I think they will really like the Toy Story gang! Playing Zip A Dee Doo Dah when they come in every morning really makes me smile!
Mine, mine, mine!

Oh well you know me, just like Bella, a mine, mine, mine, kind of girl...
It sounds like Trent really has made friends in Florida and is quite busy down there. Good for him!
I hope you enjoyed your day.
Got through the tears.
Feel better now.
I thought Brooklynn would have fun with that box...
We found Tigger hanging out with Eeyore. He was up for grabs! I thought that was about the cutest, softest Eeyore I'd ever seen, is it a baby version? Harper's birthday party is today and we bought her the same doll, just the Snow White version.
Megan saw the Brooklynn and Bella's out in the living room the other day when we were wrapping them and wanted to know what we were doing and we told her not to worry, we had "baby Snow" for Harper....

As for that call, I hope to hear from Brooklynn from a sandy pool!

Awwwww, hugs Mary Ellen! I loved doing the classroom, with Toy Story 3 just out I thought the kids would enjoy that theme this year...
Last year they started rolling their eyes at me with all the Mickey and Minnie business and they are only 7 and 8 years old!!!

Our tile was already there and the counter top was just a regular formica. Here is a picture after we had pulled the sink and were just ready to get started with the countertop transformation.

Then you use a roller brush to paint on the sticky stuff...

DSCN4438.jpg

Next you use a gadget that looks like a seed spreader to broadcast color chips on the sticky countertops. Oh my gosh that stuff was everywhere!

It dries, you sand it down,

then apply the gloss coat and it dries for 48 hours then you can use it lightly, regular use in a week. Our case we had the problem with the wet rag leaving a stain.

Change of color... yada yada and we went charcoal. I love it!

Yesterday while grocery shopping Marc discovered our market had new Mickey dishes!
A set came home with us.

A few more shots of the countertops and Baylor's new "sexy" television. This child camps out in here!

DSCN4469.jpg

The work will continue as this light, the wall paper, ceiling fan, window treatments all need to be done over! Done away with!

Wigd, I sat here staring at your classroom pictures with the biggest smile on my face. It looks AHmazing!
Just inspiration for you in the future! Take notes!

I would love to have her but she would miss her mama!
You have a great source here on the DIS with your DVC questions!:goodvibes
What a lucky bunch of students. It looks great!! I adore all the Disney touches. I especially love the Beach Club mug. What a great find!

The kitchen looks awesome too!!

Good luck tomorrow. Happy back to school!! :goodvibes
I had seen that person carrying around that mug earlier in the week, I couldn't believe that they left if behind when they checked out!?!
I drink hot chocolate out of it when it's freezing outside!
The kitchen is coming along. I'm ready for phase 2 to get started...
I love your classroom; you've spent a lot of time making it so inviting! :goodvibes How did you attach the mouse ears to the bulletin board? I'm assuming it wasn't staples... :confused3

It was staples! I don't wear the ears so a few staples won't hurt anything. Putting that room together is therapy for me! I'm sure I can get an amen from the other DIS teachers on that!:goodvibes

Love the Disney touches in your room and the kitchen looks fantastic! Great find on those Mickey dishes!

Thanks for showing all the steps, it turned out really nice! I like the darker color a lot better. I have dark green countertops. They do show dust better though, not that my house gets dusty ;)

I also love the Mickey dishes. What kind of market do you have? Probably not Publix, right?!

The Mickey dishes are very cute!!!

Do you remember where you got the Tiffany-style light over your table? That's the kind of light I want in our kitchen.

Happy First Day of School tomorrow to you, Marc, and Baylor!!!

I also love the Mickey dishes. What kind of market do you have? Probably not Publix, right?!

Jill said she thought they might have seen those at Target. You might check their website or stores around you.

Anite -

Thanks for posting the before and after pictures. I really love the black. It looks so great. WOW! Nice job!

I am showing them to Denny now!

Your classroom is fabulous. I love the potato head idea. You're kids are going to have so much fun playing with all those parts.

Your kitchen looks great. The black really looks much better than the original pictures. Phase 2 is going to be a lot of work. We've pulled wallpaper before and it's tedious.

I hope your shoulder is getting better and you have pain free days soon.

Good luck with the start of school. Those kids are lucky to have a Disney inspired teacher.

Your kitchen looks fantastic!

I love the Mickey dishes and mugs. I will definitely be on the lookout for those in stores over here.

Your classroom looks great! I know your students will love it!
The kitchen counter looks good too. I guess originally it was going to be the lighter color til the rag incident? I like the darker color. I had someone pull down my wallpaper and paint my kitchen not too long ago. Wallpaper is a pain!!! Hope yours comes off easy! I could stand to do some remolding in my kitchen as well. I have the same wood trim around my windows too.
Hope your first day with the kids goes well!:)
Happy birthday to Harper!:bday:party:

First of all I adore your classroom especially with all the Disney touches!!!! It just looks like such an inviting place to be and to learn!!!!

Your kitchen is amazing!!! Where did Marc find those dishes???? I so want a set!!! I loved the picture with the Mickey Mugs and the new countertops, looked fantastic!!!

I love your classroom. I also love your new kitchen counter tops. You can add me to the list that wants to know where you got those Mickey plates. I hope your first day of school with the kids goes well.
