Resort Hoppin' with Wigd and Shocker! Contests!

Finally got caught up (again). :lmao: I can promise to get behind again... :rotfl: we are in process of actually moving to KS. Finally.

In actuality, it was more like this....

Kind of what it's like in our house right now. Scott comes home and there's a honey do list a mile long..... :rolleyes1:rolleyes: Can't wait to see the remodeling pics!

How's the remodeling coming? I'm interested in hearing (and seeing) how your countertops turned out. :thumbsup2

Christine and I have been chatting on FB but here's the name of what we are using on the countertops.
Countertop Transformations
Check it out on the internet. They have a video. It's really very easy to use and so pretty when it's finished.
We are still waiing on the final step!

That looks really cool and maybe fun to do! I think I could totally do this myself and think I might check it out for a weekend project. I bought my house 8 years ago and haven't changed much! This would be an effective and low cost alternative to a major remodel:thumbsup2 And if I run into any problems I can just call you to fix them!! :cool1:

Wigd -

Will you post before and after photos. I am very interested in this and just watched the videos. I am seriously considering this. What color did you do? I can't wait to see if you are completely satisfied.

Mary Ellen, we chose the Canyon Brown. I'm not convinced that we chose right. We have a copper brown tile on the back splash. I almost think the charcoal would have been better. I don't think we should have even gone with another brown.
Oh well.
It's almost done now.

I have before and during pictures, just waiting for the after.
We need to do the final coat of gloss, the rest is done.

Monorail shopping is on my list for next trip. It's been a while since I've stepped foot in the Grand Floridian and Polynesion.
How is Keeley feeling?

I got on line and read a lot of reviews on this and I noticed that some people said they ran out of gloss or they didn't sand the surface down well enough so the gloss didn't quite cover it. Did you use a power sander?

When I started researching this I got so excited because I have the most disgusting counter tops EVER and I keep putting off replacing them. I think this may be a perfect solution because even if it doesn't work well, I have nothing to lose.

I am pretty excited to try this. I have all these big plans now - replace the sink, refinish the cabinet doors that are the most worn, new hinges, new liners, cover the counter tops, repaint and new light fixtures. I think if this works it will make the kitchen redo very affordable and its probably all I need. I am not into a big renovation, both from the time, money, and mess perspective. My life is too crazy for that.

Here's my dilema though - I have no backsplash. I was going to tile as a backsplash when I had new counter tops installed. Do you think it will be hard to apply the various surfaces without a backsplash to protect and sort-of buffer the wall?

Anyway - can't wait to hear about your finished project.

Forgive me if this has previously been posted on this thread. But wanted to make sure you knew you can currently get a $25 gift certificate to the various Swan/Dolphin restaurants (Shula's, Il Mulino, BlueZoo, Kimono's) for just $2 at restaurant dot com!! Usethe code: PLATE. I've heard it expires soon (perhaps 7/31) and is just one per table. Seems too good to be true but I figured for $2 I am chancing it and hopefully will get to put $25 toward some snacks at the bar in Oct!

I think you just need to make a short visit to my house. You will feel much better about your house when you leave.

Short update of sorts here...

We have stalled on the countertop.
A wet rag got left on the unfinished counter and it left a mark.
We made a tactical error by sanding and applying new sticky stuff and more color chips.

Now trying to sand again....

The rest of the counter tops look very nice and are just waiting for the final coat...
UGH!

So I'm stuck w/o a sink in the kitchen until this is resolved.

More news.

I'm having surgery on my shoulder Monday morning. Physical therapy will begin on Tuesday.
This is all due to the break that happened just after spring break.
If we are FB friends you already know.
I'll be working nonstop at school from now through the weekend to get my room arranged and ready for the year to begin.
We report back on August 10th and our first day with students will be August 16th.
So much to do in so little time!

Wow! Sorry to hear about the surgery. Hope it all goes well on Monday.

You guys go back a week before our teachers do....thank goodness, I've been working on our schedule for the last two weeks and it still isn't done  We have so many students it makes scheduling a real challenge! Our kids don't start until 8/23.

Let us know how the surgery goes!

So sorry to hear you need surgery.
Best of luck that it is quick and easy and PT restores full range of motion.:wizard:

Good luck with your surgery!:goodvibes You'll probably need more luck for the PT than anything else.
You'll be good as new before you know it!

Sorry to hear that you'll need surgery on your shoulder. Sending lots of pixiedust: your way for a speedy recovery.
