I was wondering if anyone knows the schedule for when the resort decorations are to go up?? :santa: We want to go for Thanksgiving, but would like to stay someplace decorated! :rotfl: :santa:

They start the decorating either the night of Thanksgiving or the day after....not really sure. Full decorations were up at all resorts when we visited one year the first week of December. The Osbourne Family light display at MGM is usually up early in November - that is fabulous!

Decorations go up Thanksgiving week and they should be finished before Thanksgiving Day. Candlelight Processional usually starts on the day after Thanksgiving. Very Merry Christmas Parties start earlier in the month of Nov.

In 2004, we were there earlier in Nov (I think like the 3rd to 9th) and they put up resort decorations (ASMo) while we were there.

We were there last year the second week of November (the week BEFORE Thanksgiving). The MK was completely decorated because of the MVMCP parties. The Osbourne lights were up and will be again this year at that same time. They were Awesome! Epcot had the Christmas Tree and the Walkways decorated but not lighted:confused3 so not sure when they light everything up! We stayed at WL and the Tree was being put up while we were there. At the GF the Gingerbread house was done and looked amazing. The tree was being put up. Hope this helps. If you are going right around Thanksgiving you will see plenty of decorations. If you want to go to the Candlelight processional at EPCOT (which I hear is lovely) you will need to wait until after Thanksgiving. If you are planning on the first week of December be advised that POP Warner is from Dec 1-8th. You want to avoid certain resorts at that time! Good luck with your decision!

They start putting up Christmas decorations right after Halloween and they are all gone around January 10 - 12. :)

They also start playing Christmas music in the hotels and don't stop until early/mid January.

Way back in '01, we were at POR in early Nov. We walked through the lobby area on our last night and all was as usual. But, when we walked through, the next morning to head home, it was as if the elves had been up all night, decorating. It turned into Christmas in about 6 hrs!!! The whole darn place was a holiday wonder.
By Thanksgiving you will find that everything, everywhere is all decorated in the finest holiday traditions.

We have been at WDW 4 times for Thanksgiving.

Last year, 06, we got there the Monday before, Nov. 20th. There were NO decorations up at POR.

Then...BOOM...wake up tuesday morning, November 21st..and the decorations were up and looked great.

We saw just the opposite. We were at WL in Jan for the marathon. We went to sleep on Sunday night (the day of the marathon) and the place was decorated to the hilt. We got up the next morning (Monday) and everything was gone. There had been an 18 wheeler parked out front when we arrived home from the parks that night.

Same thing happened to us at the Dolphin in '04. It was kinda sad. :sad1: But then we went to MK & forgot all about it being sad.

we stayed at POR in early November and the decorations were up already... imo: I dont think any hotel can get more elabrate then the GF w/ thier decorations but they were up and it was very nice and festive... :wizard:
