Resort Help And Date

We will be staying at the Floridian from June 23-26, 2005. We will be extending our stay and need some advice on how long and where. We are three adults (1 very active grandparent) and 2 children ages 7 and 5. We have never stayed at and would like to try Wildnerness or Beach Club Villas. Any recommendations out there?

Also we were thinking of extending from Sunday June 26th till July 3rd. However now I am rethinking that we should maybe leave on Friday July 1st as the 4th of July crowds will be coming in and it will get supercrowded.(It will also cost us another 150 points just to stay thru the weekend) We have never been to WDW at this time of year. We are very spoiled and have only been in November and December when it's fabulous.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Are you trying to do this through a DVC member or through CRO? The 11 month window for DVC ressies at that time is just about now.

you know how hot it will be - right?

I mean if you are use to Nov and Dec - June and July will be very, very hot.....

If you still want to go - I would recommend BCV for June/July - I love VWL but I like it better for fall/winter vacations.

however go by bcv and see SALB before you make any decisions - that pool although wonderful frightens me - I won't take my niece there until she is whole lot older....

now if you decide to go with BCV and just use the quiet pool - hey this is a great decision (my opinion)

I love VWL as it just has a wonderful feeling about the place. We enjoy getting The Bike and Boat Plan and biking around Fort Wilderness and playing on the lake in Mouseboats.

The feel can not be matched by any of the other resorts!!

Boy, are you in for a rude awakening!

Oppressive heat and overwhelming crowds are what you have to look forward to. Touring in the summer can be a real challenge.

I believe Beach Club's Storm-Along-Bay would be a valuable asset that would allow mid-day cool-downs and a bit of a break from the summer stampede at the parks.

May I suggest, if you don't already have it, The Unofficial Guide to WDW by Bob Sehlinger. The guide suggests a kind of "commando" mentality for touring the parks in the summer punctuated by frequent pool and nap breaks. Some are turned off by the non-spontaneous approach of the book. In high season I think a plan of attack is better than finding yourself in MK at 3pm looking like a wilted piece of lettuce freshly flattened by a herd of buffalo.

Aww, don't be too alarmed by what you read. Yes, summer is hot in Florida (this is a surprise?) but Disney is pretty good about getting lines under fans or into air conditioning. You don't have to go commando, just plan on taking a hotel break (either pool or in-room nap) sometime after lunch. That's good advice in any season, by the way.

As for resorts, do you have a sense for which parks your children will want to spend the most time at? Given their ages, the answer may be the Magic Kingdom. If so, transportation from the Wilderness Lodge is much easier than from the other villa locations. The pool may not be SAB, but it's still nice.
