Someone told me that guests that are staying at any of the disney resorts are allowed to go in a special line at the rides etc.... is this true??

That's at Universal-you get Front of the line privileges-basically a separate line with no waiting!

Universal has that feature for their hotels -- their version of FastPass for others costs extra for non-guests. Disney's fastpasses are still available to everyone -- look for the ticket machines near the attractions.

I havent heard of this either. As stated before Universal Studios does that and for people that are NOT staying at thier resort, they can purchase a express ticket seperately! :teeth:

I have heard that they MAY, I stress MAY, test something to this effect at some point (I've even heard of the possibility of various levels of resort access, like if you're staying at the Grand Floridian you'd get faster access than if you stayed at All-Stars) but I have nt heard of them actually trying it yet at any park or for any ride. But as others said, Universal does currently do that.

That would be awesome. Universal's FOTL privilege is great.

I wonder though whether WDW has too many resorts for it to work. I bet a much smaller percentage of Universal's guests stay on site than at Disney. There simply might be too many on site guests at WDW for it to work. Maybe it would only be offered to people staying at the deluxes...

I agree with the previous post, there are so many resort guests at Disney that the express lines would be as long as the regular lines. It works at Universal since they have only 3 resorts. You can buy the Universal express pass if you are staying offsite, but it's good for only 1 entrance in the express line per ride. The FOTL pass for resort guests is good for as many times as you want.

I also don't think FOTL will work for Disney resort guests. Universal has THREE hotels...Disney has 25 including the swan/dolphine and villa's. The POP and All stars alone hold thousands!!! I think the fast pass system works pretty good as it is. At least for now.

They used to do this years ago. I reamember when we went either in the late 70's or early 80's, we stayed at the contemporary and were able to get on the rides in a resort guest line.

Oh how nice it would be if they brought that back, cant imagine being done anymore now, but its Nice to dream. ;)

I may be stupid to ask this, but wouldn't something like this make people in the regular lines have to wait longer? I hate the system at Universal, you can stand 40 minutes in line and not move at all, because of all the FOTL passers they let by? I think that the Fastpass system is fair to everyone at the present.

People at Disney in the regular lines wait longer, too. Do you ever see the looks on their faces when you walk past them?

Not everyone knows about FastPass, there are so many misconceptions: it costs money, it's for onsite only. It's a great feature, and always will be until everyone reads the DIS and understands it. Then, it will be useless, when the FP line equals the regular line.

The rumor I heard was similar, except they were going to restrict FastPass distribution to resort guests. This would leverage the existing FP hardware and ride lines, and not be quite as obvious as having "Deluxe Resort Guests" and "Everyone Else" lines....

Alot of people don't understand fastpass. They think you have to be a resort guest or you have to buy them. That could be the case.

I just found the dis late summer 2005, but we've been using FP at Disney parks since 2000. :confused3

Disney shouldn't even let anyone into the parks who is not a guest at one of their resorts! That would get alot of the riff raff out of the resort guests way.

"Gee, we are super trashy and un-Disney worthy -- we stay off-site and share meals! Oh, and we use our own car to travel from our off-site condo to each park. I wonder if my children will be scarred from traveling in the luxury of our own private vehicle instead of a crowded, smelly Disney bus?"

The above quote is from one of your other posts. Are you just trying to stir controversy?

Disney already does this and it does not get a lot of the riff raff out of the way. Go to EMH and see for yourself.

I don't ever recall any separate ride lines for resort guests, although I heard a rumor that for a few weeks at debut, resort guests were guinea pigs for Fastpass.

Disney hints:

This rumor makes the rounds from time to time, and it's only a rumor and nothing more.

It IS true that Disney holds numerous patents on the technology necessary to make these types of rumors true, such as on-site guests only, deluxe resort guests only, people named Mickey only :mickeyjum , etc. But there's NOTHING happening with any of these patents in the near future. Disney's had them in their back pocket for a long time now ....
