I have been searching and can't seem to find an answer to this question. I thought I saw something about a discount on resort rooms for guests of disney weddings but I can't find anything about how much the discount is. Anyone have any idea? My sister is hoping to get married at the GF or Poly and I would love to be close but the room prices are too high without a discount.

The rates will depend on season, like value, regular and peak season. My vow renewal is in November and it is regular season. Here are the rates I got for my guests. Keep in mind the prices are per night WITHOUT tax.

Grand Floridian - Garden View - $320
Grand Floridian - Royal Palm Club - Standard Room - $543
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Standard View - $247
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Savannah View - $306
Animal Kingdom Villas - Savannah View, 1 bedroom - $522
Caribbean Beach - Standard room - $147
All Star Movies - Standard room - $94

As you can tell, the bigger discounts are on the deluxe resorts. When the discount codes for AP holders and room only codes came out they were a few dollars more than the above rates. So, my guests got the best deal for the time we are all going. Most of my guests are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge that is why I had to have the rates for 3 different type of rooms there.

Hope this helps!

I had similar rates in my contract - our wedding was last week. In our contract it was:

$94 for pop century
$147 for coronado springs
$272 for boardwalk

all without tax.

For our guests, the rates being offered to the public were much better!!! Room only for Coronado dropped to $117 and pop dropped to $79.
AND many of our guests opted for the "free dining" promotion that was going on. Thay got much better deals by going outside of our room block and special rate.

In general, the discounts are about 30% off at convention center hotels, 15% off at all other Deluxes (e.g., the Poly), a little less than 15% at Moderates and less than 10% at Values.

As stated above, the discounts available to the general public may be better than the Wishes wedding block discount.

These discounts are only available to guests of Wishes weddings. If your sister is having an Escape wedding, she can set up a room block under slightly different rules and offer guests a 10% discount.

Thanks for the replies. It definitely seems that there are better deals with the 4/3 promotion or free dining. Hopefully they will extend the 4/3 deal until May. Thanks!

My Disney wedding website says Disney's Yacht Club Resort
Standard Room: $307.13/night
Inclusive of Resort Tax, Resort/French Quarter
Standard Room: $163.13/night
Inclusive of Resort Tax, Disney's All-Star Music Resort
Standard Room: $107.35/night
Inclusive of Resort Tax and this is for between April 16th and 23rd, 2010.

i should know this but ... :headache:

most people i think will look for outside rates... they seem to be much better - or they would go outside Disney.... looking from the UK, it seems to be so much cheaper to go through someone else rather than Disney... you can be looking at £40/49 per night for all star...

What happens then to my Wishes wedding room block thing? Out of my guests I think my mum and aunt will stay in Disney for 2 weeks each, making 28 nights between them- but i think they would get an outside deal... does that mean it doesnt count towards the minimum room block?

You won't get the free room night if you don't have 25 room nights filled in your wedding block, and depending on how many guests you have you're supposed to have a certain # of room nights filled anyway (for example, I'm having 50 guests and we need to fill 40 or else we have to pay the All-Star fee for every one less than 40). If they don't stay on Disney property (and like the campsites don't count, and I don't think the Swan and Dolphin do either), they won't count towards the min. and you'll have to pay the lowest room rate in your block for however many room nights you are less than the min. HTH and isn't too confusing!

if my mum and family stay in 1 room, for 14 nights... and my aunt and family stay in Disney for 14 nights.. and we stay in Disney for a few nights ... = 28+ nights... if we dont book with Disney does this not count towards the room night minimum? We actually have to book with Disney for it to be the room block or count towards the room block?

We are having about 30-34 people at the wedding and those staying at Disney will probs stay at All star or a mod resort.

Do you mean if you use like a travel agent, or do you mean if you don't stay on Disney property? If you use a travel agent or something like that, they will still count as long as Disney has the reservation #. If you don't stay on Disney property, they obv. won't count. Putting down 30-34 room nights would mean you would need to guarantee...24-28 room nights. It's # of room nights you hold - (minus) 20% = # of room nights you need to guarantee (or otherwise pay for like I said in the last post). :)

It doesn't matter who you book with. If your guests are staying at a Disney resort their rooms will count towards your room block. I have guests staying on DVC points, some booked through my wedding website, some called and got different deals, some went through travel agents. All I had to do was get their reservation #'s and send it to the person I was working with for the room block.
