180 days out and looking to make ADRs

We have done a lot of the park dining and are looking at resort dining. Any recommendations or any any places to avoid?

Ds are both teenagers so character dining is out (although I am dragging them along to CP!)

We go 22nd July so just been able to make our first couple of reservations. We booked Crystal Palace, love it there and think its still good value if not on Dining Plan.
Also just booked Rose and Crown at Epcot, first visit last year and really liked it. My favourite resort restaurant is Flying Fish at Boardwalk but very expensive if paying OOP. Also love California Grill, great to watch the fireworks. Also think Turf Club at Saratoga Springs is very nice.

We love

Cape may! And th while of boardwalk looks so beautiful at night for a walk after dinner :)

Narcoosess is now a firm favourite! Watching fireworks from the restaurant balcony and then hopping on the boat to go back to magic kingdom was the perfect end to the meal,

Also I have to say Sci-fi with teens is pretty cool, the milkshakes and burgers are great! And it was so cool to sit in the cars and watch Sci-fi clips while eating under the night sky ( well looks like your outside )

You really need to find pics and read the menus, 2 of the worst meals we have had were Cape May and Cali Grill, wouldn't go back to either. Its all about finding menus you like and what the service is like when you eat there.
For years we put off going to Rose & Crown & San Angel due to bad reviews yet had great meals there.

I don't think there is ever going to be a restaurant that everybody loves and everybody hates...ie others like Sci Fi diner at HS but we thought this was absolutely dreadful food...the atmosphere was good though! We also dislike Boma's at AKL but others will always book this when they go.. Our fav is Jiko's at AKL but again others don't like it..also had a good meal at Artist Point in the WL..
My next one isn't a restaurant as such...but Beaches and Cream and Yacht & Beach club, LOVE their ice creams..
By far the worst place for us has been afternoon tea in the GF in the Garden View Lounge, but again this has rave reviews from lots of people!
It all comes down to your individual taste, service and your chef that night..
I must admit I wouldn't avoid a place because one person didn't think much of it..I like to try myself first:)

Rose and Crown just seems wrong to me, I could get all that without leaving my home town! We went to San Angel last time, but because my son has nut allergies and they couldn't confirm what contained nuts we had to leave after the nachos :rotfl2: ( Have to say it was the only restaurant that let us down on the allergy front - everyone else was fabulous)

Resorts-wise I can recommend Cape May Cafe if you enjoy seafood, Trail's End if (like me) you love all-American classics like ribs, chicken, pulled pork etc and Kona Cafe in the Poly.

Teenage boys? That's easy! Meat fest that is O'hana at the Poly for dinner. Also if you time it right you can watch Wishes from their beach.

And put them thru the torture of Margarita Pracatan:rotfl2: has to be the worst "show" in Disney. Ask for a window seat away from her.

That's what she reminded us of horrible and we really did not like the food. SCI FI was not as as good last trip the burgers have changed and are now like the generic ones you get at the cs places but the atmosphere is fun.

Fantastic meal at artist point, enjoyed paradiso 37, kona was another big hit as well.

As its been said already look at the menus and see what takes your fancy, there are a few places we would not pick because nothing on the menu is appealing.

Aren't you referring to the Spirit of Aloha meal which is a completely different thing? That's a dinner show. Rubbish show. In edible food. Never the less its a different restaurant!

Actually my husband has just told me there was an awful singer at O'hana. I would have to say if there was she passed me by!

I don't think Spirit of Aloha is our kind of thing, we love Hoop Dee Doo but don't like the look of Spirit

Yes, the horrible singer, first time we dined there we got a window table and it was great. 2nd time right next to the "show", it was embarrassing, from the singing to the parents falling over our table taking pics of their children dancing, Karen actually asked one if she wanted to join us:sad2:

Yeah my bad since I posted my DH has given me chapter an verse on the terrible singer. I genuinely have zero memory of her. I did love the food there (guilty pleasure, don't eat much meat normally) and for sure my teenage boy inhaled it!

Funnily enough - that singer made our meal on our wedding day!!!
She sang for us for our first dance, got the group involved in everything and made a real effort for our big day!

We love:

Cali Grill
Kona Cafe (wonderful lunch and a great way to break up a park day)
Jiko
Boma dinner (great buffet)
Ohana Breakfast
Whispering Canyon (although has new menu - think we'll go for breakfast next time)
Beaches and Cream.

Teen boys might like Big River Grille or ESPN at the Boardwalk.

Citricos was a lovely experience for us, and my wife said she had the best steak of her life there. We also had incredible steaks and sides at yachtsmans steakhouse at the yacht club.
